User Review - 8/10 by Melissa GThis is my kind of movie, big on character development, with plenty of understated scenes that let the visuals make the points instead of always spelling everything out in the dialogue. It was a great film for people interested in honest discussion about race and I appreciated that no one was a caricature and both black and white characters struggled with identities and choices that were forced on them by societal dynamics beyond their control. It did a nice job depicting the frustration, felt by people on both sides, of being trapped by those dynamics, where how enlightened you are, or how well you try to understand what's going on doesn't matter. It was one of those films that does more observing than preaching, which makes it a nice vehicle for identifying and examining some of your own feelings about the issues it explores.
