Movie Reviews

Electric Sheep - 10/10 by Greg KlymkiwThis is great cinema and certainly a contender for one of the best documentaries of the new millennium.
Denerstein Unleashed - 8/10 by Robert DenersteinHad [Linda] Bishop been able to put a question mark at the end of that sentence, she might be alive today.
Chicago Reader - 8/10 by Ben SachsInventively structured, the documentary alternates between her early adulthood and her final months, her sad demise casting a shadow over the story and giving the film an air of classical tragedy.
Flick Filosopher - 8/10 by MaryAnn JohansonA meditative, enormously sad, and sometimes angry-making portrait; provides a stark peek into a mind mentally ill yet remarkably confident and determined.
NYC Movie Guru - 7/10 by Avi OfferEmotionally devastating, intimate and haunting, but not insightful enough.
Los Angeles Times - 7/10 by Sheri LindenThis documentary is a lyrical exploration of both a person and the place she died in, as well as a devastating commentary on American society's approach to mental health.
Spirituality and Practice - 7/10 by Frederic and Mary Ann BrussatA disturbing documentary on the plight of a mentally ill American woman.
Film Experience - 6/10 by Glenn DunksThe full story is one of unending edge-of-your-seat shock.
User Review - 10/10 by mark sI feel like the negative "professional" critic reviews went into this film with an agenda. I had the good(?) fortune of seeing this film without knowing anything at all about it. Not even the synopsis provided on this site. I probably wouldn't have seen it if I had read that. So I encourage you not to know anything about it and go see it, but not alone. Because you'll want to talk about what you just experienced and others won't have a clue unless they went in equally innocent. But if you're reading this, then it's probably too late. I found it an amazing exposition.
User Review - 10/10 by Henry SA poignant documentary film, beautifully filmed, telling the story of the life and death of a woman with mental illness. The voice lent to the subject by Lori Singer is particularly compelling. The film makers portrayal of the impact on the family and friends is also very well done. The film was surprisingly similar to my personal experience with a family member that suffered the same affliction.
