About.com - 8/10 by Jennifer MerinThis stunning expose of Hollywood's buried scandal is a revelation about the movie industry's influence, and a well-documented backgrounder on Hollywood's 'casting couch' attitude towards women

User Review - 10/10 by Christopher SThis documentary had a huge impact on me in so many ways. I'm basically in shock, for a lot of reasons. What happened to Patricia Douglas in 1937 was horrific, but what's perhaps even more painfully heartbreaking is her life afterwards. The things that she had to endure and the effect that this had on her was so deep and so apparent, even when she was a woman in her 80s. Still, what is perhaps most disturbing to me about all of this is the fact that no one knew, and those who did know didn't care. This was the first case of a woman taking a rape to court and the whole thing just feel off and was never heard about in spite of the fact that it was groundbreaking. The power that MGM had during those days was extreme, and the way that they used their power was sickening. There is so much else about this story that is just mind blowing to me. I wish more people would see it so that I can discuss it. It's that important, in my opinion. Personally being a huge fan of movies from this era, especially a lot of the big musicals featuring these girls as extras, I am shocked that I never heard of Patricia Douglas' case. I don't think I'll ever be able to watch any of those movies again without Patricia's story coming to my mind and anger filling inside of me.
User Review - 10/10 by Stel Pwhat an amazing documentary. david stenn is a very determine young mman who besides being a great screen writer is also a determine man to come out and find the real girl 27 and relate with now-a-days lawyers and see what would had happen if the case was tired today. it is amazing how such a large movie corporation like MGM was able to coverup a rape of a dancer in 193 and was able to buy out everyone involved including the girl's family. it is uplifting and sad documentary but very realitizist. aq must see especially if you love true life documentaries.
User Review - 10/10 by Susie GWow. Patricia Douglas was raped at a party that MGM held for its movie salesmen in 1937 (MGM had led a bunch of girls to believe that they were going to be extras in a movie when they had really planned for the girls to serve as entertainment for these men in the midst of a drunken orgy). She brought the case to federal court, it was dismissed, covered up by MGM, and ignored by everyone around her, because rape at that time was considered to be the victim's fault, and because MGM owned the world. Her story was practically erased from history until this filmaker dug it up and made it possible for Douglas to finally communicate the truth about her story and be vindicated at age 85. I was riveted throughout the entire thing.
User Review - 8/10 by Jason SA very good documentary about the seediness of old Hollywood. I was amazed at all the old footage that was available for this story and it really brought the past to life. Definitely recommended for those interested in the past Hollywood.
