User ReviewBryan MTired of high gas prices? Want to find out why it's so high? Mad about it? Want to get more mad? Here is a preview. A man developed a method to get 200 miles a gallon. Sold the patent to Shell Oil and... The Buried It!! Or how about this. A retired scientist who worked for Shell Oil claims he and his team broke the 1000 miles an hour barrier. Gas price in 2001 $1.47
User ReviewRussell GInteresting even though this is one sided they provided examples of published accounts that our vehicles could get much better mileage.
User ReviewDave LInteresting. Makes you wonder where these technologies are and who will profit when they are marketed.
User Reviewdarrell hVery important documentary about the oil companies unstoppable greed. What is better than a lot of money? More money! Oil companies are not interested in alternative fuel promotion because then they lose control of the consumer and lose all their profits in fossil fuels. Watch this and witness the greed of a handful of fools that reaches the very top of government in the form of a trained monkey that only recently was the president of America for an astounding 2 terms .....
User ReviewBrad HApparently they could get 100+ miles to the gallon in the 1950's literally running a vehicle on fumes. If that's true, and the oil companies have suppressed it, then there's no justice in the world and the oil guys are dicks.
User ReviewJudge LA bad documentary with good material. I think if this had been done by a major studio, it could have reached far more people and been taken far more seriously. The animations are elementary, the narration is flat, and some of the material repeats or does not progress as it should. That said, it's got a lot of good content that should really, really make you think about things. Most notably to me is the story of Tom Ogle. By most accounts I can find, he successfully converted a 4,000 car to a 100 mpg machine in the late 70s. By using vapor instead of a carburator, he was able to maximize efficiency. Why are cars 40 years later still getting 1/3 of that mileage or less? Well, Ogle died at the age of 24, allegedly by suicide. Given the amount of money involved, and given the history of oil and car companies buying and burying other patents that would have changed the world, that's a big allegedly. Truly, this would have been one of the most remarkable bits of science in the last 50 years (or maybe not so much if we had accepted it 40 years ago when we should have, and not grown accustomed to driving 20 mph pieces of shit). Also some interesting economic stuff about supply and demand. The supply is largely controlled by the oil companies, so when they want to jack prices, they can cut supply and raise the prices for the record profits we've been seeing. All in all, a lousy documentary production-wise, but good enough to really piss you off and get you thinking.
User ReviewDale Cwhat do you put in your gashole? good documentary. interesting.
User ReviewMark CMore of the same, big oil bleeding deliberately inflating the price of gasoline on us, so they can give their C.E.O.s $400,000,000 retirement packages. We know, we know and there is nothing anyone can do about it, so really why bother making films about it anymore? I think I've watched some version of this miserable documentary at least six times over the last decade.
