Blu-ray.comBrian OrndorfDoesn't satisfy any cravings for Tokyo-flattening mayhem, but its gentle ways are appealing in small doses, turning a saga about a rampaging reptile into a picture kids will undoubtedly love and parents should be able to tolerate.
Antagony & EcstasyTim BraytonGiven that there's virtually no clear reason for it to exist, it's actually pretty decent.
User ReviewTimothy EThe cutest monster movie I've ever seen!
User ReviewGerard DSo much better than I expected. The first really heartfelt kaiju movie. Probably not for everyone but if you enjoy Japanese monster movies or have a soft spot for Gamera, definitly check this out.
User ReviewWill SWhat can I say? This film is really a fun film! It's got tons of heart, great characterization, an intriguing story, and great battles! This can easily contend with the Gamera films of the 90s!
User ReviewDave VWhen I found out that this film wasn't going to be picking up where Gamera 3 left off I REALLY didn't want to see it. Glad I did! REALLY cute Kaiju film and GREAT for the kids (*except one small scene). I LOVED IT!
User ReviewStephen SYes, you need not fear, the Gamera will protect us. A Gamera Nature will apparently even die to protect us, for reasons that boggle our industrialized minds, but it cannot defend humanity without the source of its power. And will we return it? No, apparently not. But as jaded, defeatist and misguided as we are, our children can see the world differently, and maybe they can recognize what Gamera needs. But will we let them? Frankly my dears, I don't think the children will give a damn what we allow. If you have kids, even if only somewhere inside you, watch this movie.
User ReviewRick BThree cheers for Toto! You may be able to tell by my profile pic that I absolutely adore this film. While the heisei-era Gamera's were spectacular, Gamera The Brave brings Gamera back to his childhood roots with success the showa-era Gamera movies could only dream of. The action took a backseat in this one, but the bond between Toto and Toru is fully fleshed out and the action that is there is great. Top-notch kaiju movie and one of my favorites to be sure.
User ReviewChristopher JTOTO LIVES!!!! Great stuff, a return to form for Kaiju. It's hard to even watch lower-tier Godzilla movies after this one. :P Lots of fun, even when I have no idea what anyone is saying! ^_^
User ReviewAlex RThis film won't blow your mind, but it has a great story, excellent SFX, a great soundtrack, solid acting (even from the children), and excellent cinematography. It isn't as dark and interesting as the previous Gamera trilogy, but it's interesting enough for adults to enjoy as well as children. It's loads of fun.
