Movie Reviews

Village Voice - 10/10 by April WolfeMark Perez has written one of the tightest comedy scripts to make it to be the big screen in ages. Game Night, directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, wastes not a single second of dialogue, gives killer lines to every member of its all-star ensemble, delivers genuinely tense action sequences, and even goes for broke with style.
IGN - 9/10 by William BibbianiIt takes real intelligence to make the best dumb jokes. Game Night has plenty of both, combining skilled filmmaking and ridiculous gags in equal measure, and letting the seriousness and silliness play off of each other for maximum effect.
Blu-ray.com - 9/10 by Brian OrndorfStrangely free of imagination and timing, with only a handful of moments hinting at the possibilities of a production brave enough to embrace the madness in full.
TheWrap - 9/10 by Alonso DuraldeFast and funny, filled with memorable characters, and able to balance slapstick and violence without spilling too far in either direction, this frenetic R-rated farce is that rare comic gem that lands on all the spaces without ever going to jail.
Flick Filosopher - 9/10 by MaryAnn JohansonAbsolutely hilarious, full of smart snarksters, comedic suspense, and gleeful smashing of action-movie clichés. Part screwball comedy, part romantic adventure, all pure movie-movie joy.
RogerEbert.com - 9/10 by Matt Zoller SeitzThis is one of the best surprises of a still-young movie year: a comedy that takes nothing seriously except fun.
The Muse/Jezebel - 9/10 by Bobby FingerWhat a journey. What a movie. What a Game Night. See it, and buy tickets in advance.
Illinois Times - 9/10 by Charles KoplinskiBateman and McAdams make "Game Night" fun.
ABC Radio Brisbane - 9/10 by Matthew ToomeyThe more you think about it, the less sense it makes.... but that's not to say that you can't have fun watching it.
Seven Days - 9/10 by Rick Kisonak... Game Night is a gloriously preposterous comedy/thriller hybrid that pays homage to the oeuvre of David Fincher - a delightfully preposterous thing for an absurdist comedy to do.
