New York TimesAndy WebsterA musical on a threadbare budget, the film gamely reaches for the stars, but is hamstrung by its constraints, not all of which derive from a lack of funds.
User ReviewSiri MAmazing musical, very catchy tunes that have you singing from the start. Awesome graphics on the city skyline. One of the best I have seen.
User ReviewYoosik OSaw this in San Fran a few weeks back. Well done, energetic. Clever moments.
User ReviewJeff HThe songs in this slice-of-life musical are great and very diverse, from the catchy pop tunes, to the funky dance beats, to the scream-along rock numbers, and even a few cabaret-inspired tracks with lyrics that made the whole audience laugh out loud. The story feels so true to life at some parts that itâ??s almost hard to watch, but after seeing so many coincidence-driven Hollywood movies with their too-perfect endings, it's quite refreshing to see a film like this which takes the more honest approach. That being said, the pacing does slow down to a crawl a couple times, and the numerous secondary characters are underdeveloped. But the protagonist is likable enough to make up for it, with her struggles and weaknesses being easy to relate to, and her journey is overall very entertaining to watch.
User ReviewJames TSome fun songs, and I totally appreciate and am inspired by the ultra low budget bare-strings approach, but the film makers' previous effort, COLMA, is overall much better!
User ReviewAlden TThe musical numbers help it rise above gaysploitation, but not enough to recommend it to crossover audiences.
User ReviewLeif NSo very San Francisco. Fag hags, crabby landlords, and great locations.
User ReviewLee MThere's an infectious energy to this quirky musical that almost balances out its slew of gay stereotypes. But Mendoza's sophomore attempt is not as good as his first -- 'Colma.'
User ReviewPaul SIt had some strong moments and some weak moments. Some strong casting choices and one very bad casting decision.
User ReviewTracy Fcute little movie. Not too much happens but they do sing and stuff. I liked it for the fact that it was filmed in San Francisco. It's not a big budget movie but it doesn't matter because it comes off as being cute and funny!
