Sight and SoundAnton Bitelat once a star-crossed romance, an allegory of (class) discord and (musical) harmony, and a theological investigation into nature and nurture, free will and determinism. It's out there, alright - and there's nothing else out there quite like it.
Birth.Movies.Death.Meredith BordersFisher creates a fully-realized new world in FREQUENCIES, and he does it with words and concepts instead of computer graphics and creatures.
User ReviewStefano CIf you like the idea behind The Matrix or The Secret, you'll like this movie. Very interesting and thought provoking. Worth rewatching. One of my new favorites.
User ReviewSean BThe trailers do a great job of reflecting the first half of the movie, and if that was all there was to go by, it wouldn't really be worth the watch. But once things get going into high gear, the plot device is great. I'm surprised this movie is allowed to be out. I'm surprised they haven't sliced and diced the versions out on the torrents already, as they did with "The Host," cause there's just too much "real" information in here for it too be out too long. The irony of the circular logic and the way the Oroborus effect will wind through this is splendid.
User Reviewshawn bi will be considering the ideas this brilliant work presented for probably years into the future. It's a wonderfully compelling story which holds notions about love and destiny along with some fairly pervasive philosophical ideas about what we deem to be reality. Throw in the onomatopoeic quality of all speech and you have yourself a film. The story is entertaining to watch. Not at all difficult to follow. The comedy is well done - I was laughing out loud several times. After the movie ends, the thinking begins.
User ReviewChristopher FAt first I was curious about how this movie could possibly get 100% by critics, but OMG this moving is fraking brilliant; the less you know about it the better, just watch it. Fair warning it's super artsy so If you aren't into that it's probably not for you.
User ReviewKal HOn Netflix. Romantic Sci-Fi Mystery with a philosophical flavour. Thought provoking as little or as much as I wanted while being entertained with a feel good eye candy romance. Is hooking up with my soul mate luck or in my control or both? Do genes play a role at all? Is luck the ultimate equalizer? What is the meaning of repeating patterns in nature? Talk about the ultimate in peer influences in the movie. Surprising twist in the middle of the movie just when I thought it was going to be a Romeo & Juliette type of plot. I didn't take the pseudoscience too seriously though as there is just enough to tweak my interest in science further. Good fun mix of my favorite genres. I recommend it.
User ReviewChristie PVery interesting. Maybe the best movie I've seen this year.
User ReviewDaniel KAn awesome and complex movie...you may need to see it twice to fully understand all the details...that's a good thing!
User ReviewRichard LBeautifully shot romantic science fiction, magical realism, fantasy movie about a parallel universe where a person's "frequency" determines their status in society. High frequency people tend to be lucky but emotionless while low frequency people tend to be unlucky and deeply emotional. When a low and high frequecy person try to come together, the world around them begins to turn to chaos. What society believes is true about frequency may be untrue, however. When a low frequency boy falls in love with a high frequency girl, he, along with a medium frequency friend, begin to uncover the science of how frequencies work. What begins as charming and romantic eventually becomes strange and dystopian as the ramifications of what they learn begins to affect society, and a secret history begins to be uncovered. By the end of the movie, there are still revelations that change how the film has been viewed up to those moments. A very satisfying and thought-provoking example of science fiction and fantasy being used to ask huge questions and come to unsettling answers.
