Computer hackers are being portrayed as the newest brand of terrorists. This is a story of a hacker named Kevin Mitnick, imprisoned without bail for nearly five years. Freedom Downtime tries to uncover the reasons why the authorities are so scared of Mitnick as well as define what exactly he did. Surprisingly, no real evidence is ever presented by the authorities to back up the sensationalist claims in mass media. But when a Hollywood studio decides to make a movie about Mitnick's life through the eyes of one of his accusers, hackers turn to activism to get their message out. Through interviews with relatives, friends, lawyers, and experts in the computer and civil liberties arena, a picture of a great injustice becomes apparent. A cross-country journey uncovers some realities of the hacker culture as well as the sobering fact that so many technically-adept young people are being imprisoned.

User ReviewLonnie HAgreed, not the most exciting... But, it is a great documentary about Kevin.... Free Kevin!
User ReviewPrivate UFirst it's the content. Then it's the narration , the way it was shot and presented. A must see of how society and most of all government sees the internet and it's inhabitants and how they would rather listen to their corporations and supporters than actual people.
User ReviewMichael MI LOVE HACKERS, THEY JUST INSPIRE ME BIG TIME.
User ReviewWill She's the best hacker alive !! Wish I could be like him someday.
User ReviewChris MWorth checking out, but not for everyone.
User ReviewPatrick EVery interesting documentary about Kevin Mitnick, the most famous computer hacker and the ridiculous over the top treatment he received by the American judicial system. He was held for 3 years without trial for crimes he never committed. Interesting watch. 8/10
User ReviewIan WA very good, Michael Moore style documentary, about Kevin Mitnick who was imprisoned for hacking by the US governement. The film debunks a lot of the stories around this and basically proves that the government wrongly imprisoned Mitnick for what he did. I have seen the movie 'Takedown' and also read the book and after watching this it is clear that the book and movies falsified a lot of what actually happens. I have the utmost respect for Kevin Mitnick as a genius and for the talent he has and I believe that he was falsely accused and it is nice to see that he is doing well for himself with his own private network security firm. This film shows still how the government is paranoid about the way people use computers. This is most likely because they are scared or stupid with regards to their own computer security and such and just exemplifies that in this modern age the people who are in charge are the people with the least knowledge and the most to lose.
User ReviewJason GGreat story about Kevin!!! Great documentary !
User ReviewBrent ANo an overly exciting documentary, but shines a light on the Kevin Mitnick saga, worth watching just to see the injustice he's suffered!
User ReviewGerry PUnfortunate that Kevin had these losers to rely on (losers outside the computer scenes). The film also shows that the US Justice System doesn't deserve its name.
