Mountain Xpress (Asheville, NC)Ken HankeNot Fred and Ginger's best, but great Irving Berlin songs and dances
Slant MagazineDan CallahanBurdened with a dull plot but blessed with a rousing Irving Berlin score.
The SpectatorGraham GreeneIt needs an effort of the mind to remember that Mr. Fred Astaire was not invented by a film director and drawn by a film draughtsman. He is the nearest we are ever likely to get to a human Mickey [Mouse].
LarsenOnFilmJosh Larsen...the standout numbers here, ironically, are the solo ones.
Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzIt was fun to see western star Randolph Scott garbed in a sailor's uniform and acting like an old salt.
EmanuelLevy.ComEmanuel LevyThough not one of Astaire-Rogers strongest musicals, the musical is still enjoyable despite its rather bland plot.

User ReviewJames HThursday, February 11, 2010 (1936) Follow The Fleet No synopsis except to say this is a DANCING MUSICAL, COMEDY. The fifth pairing of the dancing duo of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers did together and is also another extremely entertaining film especially when dealing with complicated situations played by Fred Astaire and Randolph Scott upon 'shore leave'. This film has a satisfying conclusion too especially during the time when ordinary US citizens can be drafted into combat during WWII. Another entertaining vehicle for the duo of Fred and Ginger. 4/4
User ReviewAshley HFollow the Fleet is an enjoyable film. It is about a Navy sailor who tries to rekindle a romance with the woman he loves while on liberty in San Francisco. Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers give amazing performances. Irvin Berlin did a remarkable job with the music. The screenplay is well written. Mark Sandrich did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the romance. Follow the Fleet is a must see.
