FIX takes you from Beverly Hills to Watts, and places in between, in one day, as documentary filmmakers Bella and Milo race to get Milo's brother Leo from jail to rehab before 8pm, or Leo goes to prison for three years. Inspired by true events, we follow the trio as they document their trip from a suburban police station in Calabasas through mansions in Beverly Hills, East LA chop-shops, rural wastelands, and housing projects in Watts as they attempt to raise the $5,000 required to get Leo into the rehab clinic. Along the way the audience meets dozens of colorful characters, each with their own anomalous perspective on Leo's larger than life personality and style, and each with their own excuse for why they cannot help out. In the end, it may take a drug deal to get the necessary funds for rehab.

Movie Reviews

Film Journal International - 8/10 by Sarah SluisAn energetic, handheld-camera account of a day spent trying to deposit someone in rehab.
JoBlo's Movie Emporium - 8/10 by JimmyOIf any one of these actors weren't up to the task, FIX wouldn't work. Thankfully, they are real enough to want to invest in their plight.
L.A. Weekly - 7/10 by David ChuteThe slathered-on visual textures aren’t quite enough, however, to distract us from the glib, leftie posturing, the lazy writing and the drug-deep existential platitudes.
Shared Darkness - 7/10 by Brent SimonCaffeinated travelogue Fix pulses with a brash and seductive visual style, but the human drama at the core of its premise ultimately feels a bit underdeveloped; with montages galore, Fix becomes a slave to its insistent artiness.
Los Angeles Times - 6/10 by Robert AbeleRuspoli's empathy for the high-and-low personalities that make up our urban web -- personified in Leo's friend-to-everyone, destructive-to-himself charm -- infuses his amped-up travelogue.
The New York Times - 5/10 by Jeannette CatsoulisPropelled by an eccentric cast of characters and increasingly seamy locations, Fix dashes headlong through Los Angeles with a little charm and a lot of verve.
Variety - 5/10 by Dennis HarveyThe diversity of visual tactics, characters, settings and incidents keep this shaggy-dog tale consistently diverting.
New York Post - 3/10 by Kyle SmithAheroin-stuffed hipster buys a dog, eats Vietnamese food and sells drugs to pay for rehab in Fix, the latest piece of cine-junk stamped out by the indie fakedocumentary factory.
The Hollywood Reporter - 3/10 by Frank ScheckThe sole redeeming factor is the presence of Olivia Wilde (Fox's "House"), who manages to keep the proceedings watchable for at least a portion of the running time.
Slant Magazine - 3/10 by Nick SchagerRuspoli's scenic cross-section L.A. travelogue conveys a strong sense of milieu even as his wannabe-Strung aesthetics reveal the project's underlying style-over-substance concerns.
