TIME MagazineRichard SchickelF.I.S.T. stands for nearly 2 1/2 hours of almost unmitigated boredom-a misfired would-be proletarian epic with Sylvester Stallone misplaying the Jimmy Hoffa part with a self-confidence that borders on the sublime.
MovieholeClint MorrisStallone shows signs of greatness here. Jewison's direction is slick and steady.
Video-Reviewmaster.comSteve CrumSo-so Sly Stallone as labor leader (like Hoffa). Diversion at best.
The DissolveNoel MurrayF.I.S.T. is another in a long line of well-made films that excel in their particulars, even if they fall a little short as complete, complex pieces of cinema.
User ReviewMuffin MThe film follows the rise and fall of Kovak, from his beginnings as an idealistic blue-collar worker to his final position as head of one of the country's most powerful unions: the Federation of Inter-State Truckers. But there are no unscarred heroes in this world. To achieve his dream of justice for the working man, Kovak must accept the muscle of organized crime. stars Sylvester Stallone, Brian Dennehey, Rod Steiger, Peter Boyle, Cassie Yates, David Huffman, Elena Karam, Harry Wilcoxon, Melinda Dillon, John Lehane, Ken Kercheval and Kevin Conway. directed by Norman Jewison.
User ReviewDavid Amuch better drama than i expected with a surprisingly strond performance from stallone
User ReviewMichael KNot a Bad movie at all.... Great acting from Stallone from his usual action/or Rocky demeanour. This has drama and Sly nails it in this film. Builds a union and becomes a Leader with trouble around him, he even invites trouble to support his union however his heart still remains true and that he has taken nothing from nobody.
User ReviewHisham BOne of the best performances by Stallone. Does a great job in a movie about the rise and fall of a union leader.
User ReviewHeather Hif you didnt put 5 stars, i assume youre not union, and i hope the ghost of johnny kovak appears at the foot of your bed in the middle of the night, tapping a beating stick on your floor.
