User Review - 10/10 by Tim MA *hilarious* and very well-directed film: it doesn't take itself seriously with respect to plot, but it doesn't mess around when it comes to high quality, well-filmed shots. This is the ultimate evolution of the 80's B-Horror-Movie. It is a remarkable accomplishment on its own, but even more so when viewed in the context of older movies of the same genre and Red Letter Media's first feature film, "Gorilla Interrupted." Prior to watching Feeding Frenzy, I binge-watched a few dozen movies over the span of a week; the films I watched were (mostly) brilliant, including films from some of my favorite directors (Hitchcock, Welles, Paul Thomas Anderson, Wes Anderson, etc). I also watched a bunch of 80s B-movies and crappy horror flicks (which I love). What I found amazing was that this film, in stark contrast to the horror films, was impeccably shot: it held its own against movies largely revered as some of the greatest in the history of cinema for a minute percentage of the budget and manpower. Furthermore, it was a very well written movie with numerous hilarious moments; at points I would just rewind certain scenes because my friends and I found them tear inducingly funny. It's not going to win any Academy Awards, but it's one of the better movies to put on while relaxing over a few beers with a friends (but make sure they have good senses of humor). As far as the 80s rubber puppet monster movie homages go, this is a masterpiece.
User Review - 10/10 by Matthew BB movie magic. Red Letter Media is good stuff.
User Review - 10/10 by Will BCalling it a sum of its parts can be a backhanded compliment, but it feels like especially worthy praise for Boyhood, considering how much went into making it feel whole. We can quibble with small stuff in Boyhood. Supporting performances are variable, the sister drops out as a dramatic character ... I could go on. But the cumulative power is tremendous. While everything about Boyhood is done with extraordinary care, the master stroke was clearly the casting, 13 years ago, of a little Texas boy named Ellar Coltrane.
User Review - 8/10 by Cody MRedlettermedia has made a goofy creature feature driven by their own comedy style.
User Review - 8/10 by Marco MI laughed hard more than a few times and was very engaged in the story, if you're the kind of person that can overlook all the little problems that come with a shoestring budget (though the directing is fantastic and the acting mostly good with some spikes of pure greatness, especially by Rich Evans) you'll be thouroughly entertained by this little gem of a movie.
User Review - 8/10 by Jeffrey MFeeding Frenzy is what Troma movies would be if Troma movies were made by people who cared about making good movies. It's low budget and low brow, but there's an attention to detail and an obvious love of the genre being spoofed that gives Feeding Frenzy an undeniable charm. The plot is a by-the-numbers 1980s style horror/monster movie and, on its own, it might not be anything special. What really carries this movie is the dry unpredictable humor that never devolves into cheap predictable gags. It never gets too sleazy or too gory. It walks that fine line and manages to be weird and subversive without being tasteless.
User Review - 8/10 by Ryan SFunny, cheesy, and very entertaining. The budget is low, but the entertainment value is very high. If you're a fan of RedLetterMedia's other work, you will love this movie.
User Review - 8/10 by Jack GThis isnt the Feeding Frenzy I was looking for. I don't like things that are different. I like Twilight.
User Review - 8/10 by Tim SBeing a fan of everything that Red Letter Media does, I had a spur of the moment need to see this, so I bought it from their website and popped it in as soon as I had the chance. Feeding Frenzy is not the kind of movie you want to see if you're looking for something overtly amateurish and terrible. This film reminds me of Dark Star in many ways - more so than the Gremlins and Critters films it rips off. It's more about a group of amateur filmmakers setting out to make a genre-type film that lampoons the genre while at the same time being interesting on its own terms. Sure the lightining isn't that great, the performances aren't altogether fantastic and the special effects & make-up were thrown together in someone's apartment (not to mention the story itself), but you can't ignore that these people are talented and know more about what they're doing than most amateurs. I loved Feeding Frenzy, warts and all, and I look forward to future film projects and reviews from these insane geniuses.
User Review - 8/10 by Tony MStoklasa and Bauman deliver exactly what you would expect from the people who brought us the Plinkett Reviews. Feeding Frenzy is a satirical homage to 'B movies' with a great mix of horror & hillarity. You must see this at least once.
