User Review - 10/10 by Felicia FOne of my holiday favorites - brilliant animation. A nice continuation from the Snowman movie. I SMILE throughout the entire movie.
User Review - 10/10 by Dave RAmazing film! Ain't seen it years and its even better than I remember!
User Review - 8/10 by Charlie PIt may lack the emotional weight and beauty of The Snowman, but Father Christmas does manage to be incredibly entertaining in it's own right, thanks to the funny depictions of the hijinks Father Christmas gets into throughout the rest of the year and Mel Smith's great voice-acting skills in depicting a grumpier and more relatable Santa than in most depictions. An overall bloomin' classic.
User Review - 8/10 by Benita EThis reminds me so much of Christmas' whilst growing up. I'd look forward to watching this either on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day - it was less sad than The Snowman, and quite funny too. Fantastic.
User Review - 8/10 by James Cwatched on xmas eve, it brought back many memorys of christmas past. It is just a super story
User Review - 8/10 by Roy CVery well animated, and a refreshing concept. It was great seeing what Father Christmas got up to 364 days of the year.
User Review - 8/10 by Claire TChildhood favourite - excellent Christmas movie.
User Review - 8/10 by Patricia WFather Christmas, or as I always remembered it 'another bloomin' Christmas' is based on the Raymond Brigg's book and follows Santa as he decides to go on holiday for once, in his free time during the other 364 days of the year. Voiced by Mel Smith, this version of Father Christmas is quite a grumpy sort and disaster seems to follow him from one destination to the next. Considering he's the only character that has more than one dialogue in the film, Mel Smith carries it well and manages to make the grumpy old man rather charming and fun to watch as he travels from country to country at quite a fast pace. The animation is also very charming and is in the same style of The Snowman, another, more famous story of Brigg's who also has a cameo in Father Christmas. However the musical score isn't quite as compelling as that of The Snowman and is a little forgettable at times. Although my experience of this film may be coloured by nostalgia, having thoroughly enjoyed it as a young child, I still think this is a good film. At only 25mins long, this little cartoon is short and sweet and if you've never happened upon it before, I would definitely recommend it as a good little Christmas film.
User Review - 6/10 by Private UWhilst innevitably never reaching the sheer magical brilliance of "The Snowman", "Father Christmas" is still an enjoyable ride as Father Christmas (Mel Smith) goes on holiday and prepares for the forthcoming Christmas. Mel Smith is suitably grumpy and humourous as the man himself , but it falls short of being a classic.
User Review - 6/10 by Yan LA must at Christmas! Definitely better than the Snowman
