Los Angeles TimesNoel MurrayForced character arc aside though, this is a tightly constructed and well acted indie with a few standout sequences. It’s further proof that sometimes all a filmmaker needs is a cab and a camera.
tonymacklin.netTony MacklinFare is representative of the independent film today. It shares many of the trials and dilemmas of that aspiring category.
User ReviewAna Isabel DThis was a good film.I like it This was a good film.I like it The Exception is a warm and welcome departure from the typical WW2 film! Christopher Plummer delivers a wonderful performance portraying the aged former Kaiser with a sensitivity and grace that draws the audience into empathy with the human side of this tragic figure, and the story line is both suspenseful as well as tender. One truly feels the love between the young German officer and the Jewish housekeeper/British Spy, and rather than being the usual sad tale of star crossed lovers, this film has an ending that will make you smile! Loved it!
User ReviewJosh Wspoiler ... the end was a crazy twist and pretty out there. classic indie metaphysical ending. doesn't change the fact that it's a well-done film
User ReviewHaris CAmazing movie. One of my favorite movie based on relationship drama
User ReviewWalter Mcrazy film.. well done IMHO. other film viewers i see might be judging it as if it were a studio film and might be waiting for Katy Perry to burst into song but this is a small indie and the best you can hope for is good production value and a thought-provoking story. for that, you get it here. good job
User ReviewEd PI see a lot of indies and since t hey don't do much special effects nor have stars, you are just watching for a strong character study or something fascinating to watch. I liked the ending in particular. Was very unexpected and bizarre. Makes you think a bit but in a good way.
User ReviewCanaan BSo suspenseful! The pace of this movie keeps you on the edge of your seat at all times, and the ending will linger in your mind for days. Sooo good!
User ReviewSarah%20 DI don't normally watch psychological thrillers, but this was a bit Rod Serling-esque and made my heartbeat speed up, kept me wanting to look away and watch at the same time--which was helped by the suspenseful music. Good acting. Torrey is obviously a versatile artist, doing everything from the writing/directing and acting to the editing. This film is a great example of what can be done with a small budget in terms of storytelling and filmmaking as it took place entirely inside the confines of a car. I also appreciated the tip of the hat to C.S. Lewis at the very end of the credits. Well done.
User ReviewBill PWas expecting a lot more from this story, but it has huge plot holes and just doesn't make sense.
