User ReviewLinda LThis film is beautiful, interesting and very moving. The story of a young girl that gets pregnant by an actor in a traveling theatrical company and is married off to a 40 year old widower to avoid scandal. The 3 hours grant enough time for the story to unfold itself without hurry. Characters have time to be developed properly. The landscape has time to grow on you. All the actors really deserve praise for this. Especially Liam Cunningham and Elisabeth Dermot-Walsh. Eleanor Methven should be mentioned too. Although this film is now sold as a Colin Farrell vehicle, his role is really very small - although certainly one of his best. I give this movie 10/10 and really cannot understand why it is that underrated here.

User ReviewKelly KThis was a fantastic historical/romance!! Liam and Elisabeth are so magnetic in this piece. She finally gets what a great guy he is, and he has the patience of Job! Visually mesmerizing from beginning to end. Have watched many of Liam's movies, and he never fails to entertain....very mature and handsome man, will look forward to more!
User ReviewCatriona KI absolutely loved this miniseries. Heart breaking, poignant, memorizing. I did think that the synopsis and movie cover were a bit misleading as while Colin Farrell does play a part, I found that the other main male actor (liam cunningham?) was much more the leading man.
User ReviewPrivate Uwatched the mini series on tv and a really close friend found it for me on dvd, thats what friends are about listening and doing i love her. x
User ReviewLucia SEven this was a "made for tv" movie it didn't suffer from the usual shortfallings of this category. The overall pacing, acting, direction, and story were quite good. I felt that as the lead Elisabeth Dermot-Walsh did a brilliant job as the complicated Lizzie while Liam Cunningham was wonderful as the mysterious Mossie. This was a very moving romantic drama that permitted the viewer to witness redemption and the discovery of real love.
