Are government surveillance cameras intended to keep us safe actually killing people? Is it a plot by the government to suppress the opposition, or have our terrorist enemies secretly gained control of our security system and are now using it against us? Following another major terrorist attack the US instigates an intense government surveillance program in which every camera in the country is linked into a single, all-seeing network called the ODIN system (for Optical Defense Intelligence Network). The system includes millions of mobile, robotic surveillance cameras known as "Eyeborgs," which watch everyone for suspicious behavior, all in the name of security, law enforcement and keeping America safe. An agent for the Department of Homeland Security grows suspicious of the system after a series of odd murders in which the physical evidence doesn't match up to what the video records show. Now he must work outside the system to find out who is really controlling the Eyeborgs. With the help of a broadcast journalist and a purple haired Punk Rocker who turns out to be the President's nephew, he must stop a plot to assassinate the President during the final debate of the election.
Leave your thoughts about Eyeborgs.
Little White LiesAnton Bitelif you can see past the made-for-TV look, the unpolished dialogue and unexceptional performances from a cast of unknowns, it is hard not to be impressed by the sheer ambition on display here - as well as by some decent action and ideas-driven satire.
User ReviewRudy RMuch better than I had expected. The best part was the first 10 minutes because the band "Painful Daze" played by "Devastation Proclamation" Rocked my face!
User ReviewYash KRobotic cameras in your home, in your room, in your washroom, its as if they need no permission. The president who's dead for years still being shown on television in a debate, robots being programmed to kill people. Misuse of video technology and power provided to a particular company for the country's security is amazingly shown in this movie. A must watch for all science fiction lovers.
User ReviewMervin JNice blend of sci-fi/conspiracy/thriller. The acting is cheesy as all hell, but it stays engaging. Eyeborgs' action sequences are fun, sound and visual effects are polished, and it delivers a pretty thought-provoking plot with a (accidentally??) tongue-in-cheek tone. In a day and age where the gov't has made our business their business, where do they draw the line between surveillance/protection and infringing on our privacy and freedom? Would they go so far as to enforce their brand of 'liberty' through a network of cybernetic stool pigeons, who would just as soon waste an innocent, as kill a common theif, in the name of anti-terrorism? The Eyeborgs keep everyone guessing till the end. A Homeland Security agent, a gutsy news reporter, and a lowly rock guitarist all tangle with the bots to unravel the mystery of just why citizens are mysteriously dying or disappearing with no alarm from a government sworn to protect their safety. They move the story along fairly well. However, throughout the film the main character, Jared, can't seem to make up his mind whether he's anarchist-punk with a point to prove, or an afflicted emo kid caught in the middle of a terror war. A hero he is not--not even accidental--Not once, while his loved ones are being wasted one by one, does he get the guts to fight back. Maybe all his prowess is in his fingers. The movie culminates in a race to save the President from a terrorist attack during election debates, and the climax is quite satisfying. If you can ignore the labored line deliveries and the 'wtf' factor of Jared's purple hair, you can stick it out till the end.
User ReviewJimmy HThey did a good job on this. I thought it was going to be a cheesy movie, maybe it was because of the title, but I enjoyed it. The CG was good in it, even the interaction between the actors felt pretty smooth. Definitely not one like some of the recent SYFY movies where the green screen looks like it was just slapped together real quick. The bots had a neat design to them, and moved well, shadows weren't bad either. All the acting and cinematography was done well. The story was good, all be it not 100% original but still worth paying attention to. I got a bit of a surprise near the end, probably should of been paying attention more then I was but I didn't think they would go to far in depth with the story. Once again fooled by the title. It was kind of like an alternate reality for SkyNet, like if things were done less aggressively.
User ReviewLee KI liked this film, though I know fee found it boring! Watched Demon Seed after, and nice to see contrasts and similarities!
User ReviewCarrington GA believable and intruiging concept, dulled down by cheesy acting and dialogue. Its the thought provokingness of the story however that keeps you hooked.
User ReviewAdrian BGot better as it went along. Can't stand that moving camera and gave it 1/2 star less for using it. Could have been a great sci-fi movie without it.
User ReviewEddie KNot a great sci fi, but not a bad one. I recommend it for 9/11 anniversary viewing.
User ReviewDevon WPretty good movie basically about Big Brother watching you all the time with these little walking eyeballs. There are bigger eyeborgs who help the police too with video surveilance footage. The cops can then catch the bad guys doing the crimes. But what if you can only see what the eyeborgs show you? What if you don't see it with your own eyes? Can you trust the eyeborgs? Of course you can't! And that's what this film's about. Never bet on one large corporation to look for your best interests at heart (Wal-Mart anyone?), they'll let you down everytime. Here we have the detective who is increasingly doubtful about the eyeborgs, the hard nosed tv reporter, and the misunderstood teenager who saw a crime committed by the eyeborgs but nobody believes him....yet. Not bad if you're looking for a movie that won't insult your intelligence too much. Just don't expect it to be life changing.
