Runaway teenager Joe leaves her dysfunctional mother after being beaten by her lover Harry. She meets Engel and his punk friends on the streets and the boy shelters her in the abandoned building where he lives. Engel tells Joe that he dreams of living in the mountains in a community of his own, raising animals and planting his own food, and they fall in love with each other. When Joe gets pregnant, they face serious problems because of their unemployment and homelessness. Engel then gets addicted to drugs and he drags Joe down with him to a life that includes prostitution, but ultimately there is a light at the end of the tunnel for them.

| User ReviewPrivate UAbsolutely a favourite! And it's German, yeah! I just adore those kids, Engel and Joe is so sweet, and they just keep messing everything up and messing with each other (but of course not always on purpose), when all they really want to do is just to be together and live happily ever after - rough world, living on the street, drug abuse and then of course the main theme: love. |
| User ReviewCaroline NThe same guy who did a lot of the work on the cult book Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo also worked on this movie. A lot of the same themes are touched upon: youth dealing with homelessness, drug abuse, and sex. Great German movie. |
