User ReviewSharad SI watched this movie when it was first released in France. The hype and the expectations were huge - Vanessa Paradis, a cultural icon, coupled with Gerard Depardieu, also an icon. Finally, it was the return of Jean Becker after a ten year absence (his previous film, L'ete meutrier, made a star out of Isabelle Adjani - could he do the same for Vanessa - she of limited vocal skill, but nevertheless, hugely popular?). I can't say enough about this exceptional film. The first five minutes will have you hooked. Vanessa's brilliant, the music's wonderful (mind you, she doesn't contribute to the soundtrack). An absolute winner of a film!
User ReviewHélène Jvanessa paradis/clothilde courau géniales! très beau film
User ReviewMark FFrench movies (at least for me) have such interesting stories that go from the profound and simple to the odd or weird. They have a true feeling of reality and how can life sometimes play with you. Beware of the song, because it is so catchy! I would love to watch this movie again.
User ReviewJames MMerely a vehicle to prove Vanessa Paradis' talents as an actress. It comes off well, she is more interesting than the film itself.
User ReviewPrivate UWonderful film, inspired by a Serge Gainsbourg song. Vanessa Paradis delivers a very strong performance, trying to seduce Gérard Depardieu, who plays her father.
