Film ThreatDon R. LewisLike many of Claypools bands, Electric Apricot is bound to be a cult hit. I’m just hoping it will have the chance to play before a bigger audience as I feel the film is just plain hilarious and I was extremely impressed at the way Claypool pulled it all together in his first directorial effort.
VarietyRonnie ScheibGenerates enough mild humor to keep the spoof rolling, but lacks the commitment and scope.
The Hollywood ReporterMichael RechtshaffenThe most appreciative audience for this lame National Lampoon release likely will be guys in tour buses.
Chicago TribuneScott SchuellerShot in the same style as “Spinal Tap,” Electric Apricot fails to wow in every way possible, but the music disappoints the most.

User ReviewPaul CThis movie was trying to be like Spinal Tap. A mockumentary about a band and their lives. When you make a mockumentary though you really have to keep the viewer interested throughout the whole film. Parts of this film were somewhat entertaining, but a lot of the scenes were just kind of boring. The cast was entertaining for the most part. Some of the actors were just not funny. An example would be Seth Green. I mean he is usually funny, but not for this film. But other actors with small parts like Dian Bachar were pretty good. So I would say it is an ok film, but not the best mockumentary I have seen.
