Marielle's family are African immigrants in Canada. She works as a hospital orderly where her brother Pascal works as a janitor. Their family was helped by Pascal's best friend André, whose assistance was especially needed after their father left. André and Marielle are now engaged. However, Marielle agreed to marry André only out of a sense of loyalty to the family and as gratitude for André's assistance. In reality, she is in love with Zoe, a fellow orderly at the hospital. Pascal and André don't know about Marielle's true sexual orientation, nor does Zoe know about André. Marielle has to decide whether to follow her heart and be with Zoe, or follow her loyalties and marry André. However if Pascal or André find out about Marielle's love for Zoe or if Zoe finds out about Marielle not being truthful to her family, Marielle risks losing everything.
