Movie Reviews

Los Angeles Times - 8/10 by Charles SolomonA slam-bang action-adventure that will have Dragon Ball fans cheering.
Variety - 6/10 by Joe LeydonA strictly members-only entertainment for a dedicated target audience, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ will impress the uninitiated as very loud and very colorful, but not nearly fast-paced enough.
The Guardian - 2/10 by Mike McCahillOne innovation: the application of thrash metal to fight scenes, which at least hushes the shriller voice artists.
User Review - 10/10 by mathew19648This is, without a doubt in my mind, the best Dragon Ball movie out there. Akira Toriyama returning to make more Dragon Ball is the best thing to ever happen to this series. Frieza is back and he's still the sadistic villain you remember from the Frieza Saga. The film finally has the weaker characters do something and they all have their shining moments. Jaco is a new addition to the series and he's absolutely hilarious. Beerus and Whis make a return and, even though they don't have a huge role in the film, it's still great to see them. But the best part of this movie is Goku and Vegeta. Never did I think that Toriyama could actually continue to create an interesting relationship between these two characters after what the Buu Saga offered. They truly shined as characters in this film. The film looks phenomenal, Dragon Ball has never looked this good. I love how the camera swirls around people as they're fighting, further complimenting the outstanding animation of the film and the really brilliant choreography of the fights. The soundtrack is awesome as well. Norihito Sumitomo (the composer for Battle of Gods) returns for Resurrection 'F' to create a fantastic soundtrack that fits every moment of the film. The film includes this one insert song called 'F' by Maximum the Hormone and you will be banging your head to this killer track in the moments of when it's used in the film. Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' will be loved by fans of the series and non-fans will still enjoy the film for it's fantastic blend of action and humour. Resurrection 'F' is one of my favourite animated action films. Definitely watch this in theatres.
User Review - 9/10 by Unraed87A bit upset when Goku had to kill Frieza, same as when Superman killed Zod ( not gonna talk about Batman killing, 'cause that is just pure **** ), but when i thought it through i understood the reasons behind making him do that. Amazing comeback of the Dragon Ball franchise.
User Review - 9/10 by KleverViperI"m liking the fact that fInally we are getting Dragonball Z films that don't end with everyone getting annihilated and Goku using the Spirit bomb. This one has a genuinely nice story. The enemy isn't ridiculously strong like all the other movies and the heroes don't magically become stronger to beat the enemy. The animation is good, especially as there are several points where it transitions between 2d and 3d animation which is very nice. The voice acting in the english dub is excellent also. Definitely worth a watch if you like DBZ and didn't like Battle of the Gods or the new Super series. This is the only DBZ film I officially like.
User Review - 9/10 by bpmurphyIn my opinion, the absolute best dragon ball z movie out there. I began watching this series right from the transition of the Saiyan saga over to the Frieza saga, so Frieza will always be my favorite villian, and this movie gave him the justice he deserved. The fight scenes in this movie blow all the others from the show right out of the water, and the comedy had me laughing my @$$ off for most of it.
User Review - 9/10 by GuideVaultThis is by far the best movie after Rebirth of Fusion. The characters were actually improved from their original DBZ personalities thus making it seem as if time had actually passed for them to mature. Frieza returning and becoming powered up to the point of being on par with a SSJG was interesting, but the 4 months of training was a little over the top as I don't believe he could have gotten to god level in that amount of time as he was completely inferior to SSJ1 Goku. With Goku & Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Krillin, Roshi, & even Tien fighting in that battle against the Frieza Force in a new battle style, rather than invisibly fast attacks it shows them actually making the moves to fight. If you want to watch a DB movie then watch this one because it is certifiably awesome.
User Review - 9/10 by TheQuietGamerAn old villain returns in a movie that's an improvement on Dragon Ball Z's recent resurrection "Battle of Gods." It's much more action packed, marks the return of some classic characters, and adds even more powered up forms that fans can obsess over. Yes, it's another chapter that will get fans even more excited for the future of this series. Akira Toriyama shows he's interested in exploring new themes with his stories. There are a few moments where the writing has us believe he might actually be interested in having his characters actually learn something from battles outside of just how much stronger they can get. The missing humor element from the previous movie is a bit disappointing, but it more than makes up for it by being action packed. Fights look great and there are more of them this time around. There's plenty of flash and fan favorite moves on display. Side-characters like Krillin and Gohan actually make themselves useful for once. It really is a step up from the already great Battle of Gods in just about every way. The inclusion of Beerus here seems to only serve the purpose of reminding us that this is a sequel. Personally I hope they don't continue to have him around. His personality just consists of him threatening to destroy the earth in order to manipulate our heroes. It makes him unbearable. I hope he gets ditched into the realm of forgotten DBZ characters. It's an all around blast for DBZ fans. Those unfamiliar with the material will probably be lost, but those of us who have followed the stories of this series are in for a treat. With fantastic new character designs, a battle with a classic villain, and great action scenes any fan would be bereft to miss this. I give Resurrection 'F' a 9.1/10.
User Review - 9/10 by NintegacomThis Dragonball Z movie is a HUGE HUGE improvement over the last movie "Battle of Gods" that I watched in Japanese and it was disappointing. So this one threw it out like a used paper towel. Story The story is linear in which it's not the best when it comes to anime, but at least this movie made it fun since it was actually really funny and also valuable to its points of the past since in this case, it has been a long time since we get to see a Dragonball Z episode or movie that was related to Frieza or a Dragonball related content in this matter and it has been executed well and was well thoughtout. Animation The Animation style is astounding and well polished to say the least and the 3D effects were good, just a little par on Attack On Titan if you really want to compare, but hey it's pretty close. The aura, the energy, the explosions, and its details are also spot on. Great Job on its smoothness on the battle scenes effects. Sound The sounds and its soundtrack is good. Some are good and some are okay. The stereo are only booming for its epicness just like the Series always was and always is. Presentation The way it presented was a fine line. The characters are the same and it follows up to what I can imagine after the battle of Majin Buu. The new forms looks awesome and its morals to each characters just hits the bullseye to what I already established to who the fighters are. All I can say is that Dragonball Z Reserrection of F is a fantastic follow-up of the disappointing " Battle of Gods" and in the future, I can theorize that there can possibly be more movies that are featuring the good ol' characters we remembered like Cell, the Androids, Cooler, or Broly with Super Sayian God form maybe. Just watch the movie, it's great 9.
