User Review - 10/10 by Stephanie FToday I was going through a box set that I had that contains 50 movies (comedies, horror, crime ect...) . On the same disk as Creepers there is a movie called Don't Open Until Christmas. I expected to see a maniac dressed as Santa Claus killing off people just like on Silent Night Deadly Night... This movie proved me wrong. The movie is about a killer in London who kills guys who are dressed as Santa Claus. The more the film goes the gorier the deaths are. One poor guy gets nearly strangled then torched to a crisp. Another guy is stabbed through the back of the head and the other end of the blade comes out his mouth as he is blowing into a party favor at a party. There are a lot of other deaths but I don't want to spoil anything This one out of a few times I had this look on my face: . Anyway, back to the plot of the movie. Scotland Yard works like crazy to try to stop the maniac before he decides to invade their annual Christmas party. Caroline Munro (veteran horror film actress) makes an appearance in this movie. As I said since this movie scared the hell out of me I am giving it a 10 out of 10.
User Review - 8/10 by Gaz Hafter sorting ot all the xmas bumpf, with everyone in bed on xmas eve. i decided to have 90mins of me time and a beer before the madness of families and xmas took over... well what a treat this was, 80's BRITISH horror, ok its not the best plot in the world, but nice and gorey, strange characters (i love british horrors) and a touch of flesh here and there. this hit the spot perfectly.. shame it seemed to be mastered from vhs as it deserves a better release than this
User Review - 8/10 by Ed Fucking HThis one's a really good time, even if it is painfully predictable at times. Large body count, featuring class gore most of which involving Santa Claus as the victim. This slasher takes the form of a who dunnit, but kind of fails on that front as it's pretty obvious who the killer is from the moment that character is introduced. Didn't affect my enjoyment though as theres something about Santa Claus repeatedly being murdered in grisly fashion that never gets old. Recommended.
User Review - 6/10 by Jason DDon't Open Till Christmas is the U.K.'s answer to Silent Night, Deadly Night (though both were made the same year) about a sadistic serial killer who goes around London killing off everyone dressed as Santa Claus (as well as random folks towards the end of the film). It's up to two Scotland Yard detectives (one of whom may be the killer) and a couple who have just lost a relative to the slayings (one of them may be the killer as well). While the story and plot is pretty wooden and dumb at times, we are treated to a high body count. The killings aren't anything special, but most of them are carried out in a surprisingly gory and violent way. Kudos to the filmmakers for definitely keeping my interest in that department, not to mention the brief model shoot scene where a model show off her pretty hot body and titties. Aside from several small and semi-established British actors and actresses, cult figure Caroline Munro (Maniac, The Abominable Dr. Phibes) makes a bizarre cameo as herself singing at some concert. Kinda odd. Going back to the body count again, another plus is the list of victims. All I'll say is no one is safe, which made for a pleasant (and fairly bleak) ending, just like I like 'em! Not bad, heavily dated, but I was amused.
User Review - 6/10 by michael bkiller santa and santa's getting killed, right!
User Review - 6/10 by Adam RThough the film is fragmented as all hell -- perhaps due to its long, arduous, bizarrely rigorous pre-production history -- I actually enjoy "Don't Open Till Christmas." The characters are all credibly sleazy (rather than the clean-cut, witless, semi-virginal teens we're usually stuck with in slasher flicks), and, unlike "Halloween," plays with common attitudes toward Christmas rather than reinforces them. You'll find little yuletide joy here: A psychotic murderer is stalking the streets of London, looking for Santas to prey on. Fortunately, every Englishman in a Santa suit is a pervert, a drunk, or both, so their usual haunts are easy to find. Understandably, the killing of Jolly Ol' St. Nick in his many forms probably isn't good PR for London, so Inspector Ian Harris (Edmund Purdom, who also directed -- some of the movie) is on the case, with unreasonable, unseen higher-ups demanding progress at every turn. No movie has made Christmas more terrifying -- or made you more glad for a quiet holiday at home -- than "Don't Open Till Christmas," except perhaps for "Bad Santa," or Dan Aykroyd's brief appearance as everyone's favorite gift-giving benevolent burglar in "Trading Places."
User Review - 6/10 by Al MBetter than I expected. If you are a slasher fan(like me)its a must see
User Review - 6/10 by Bill Boverall this is a pretty silly film, though it honestly seemed to make up for the goofy story with a high body count and some truly over the top kills that include Santas on fire or even slashed to death in a public toilet! Worth a look at least once for the ridiculousness of it all, though I have to admit that I've moved it into my normal Christmas rotation. Rental.
User Review - 6/10 by Erin WThis movie holds surprisingly high amounts of nudity and cheap gore. It doesn't try to be serious, and it especially doesn't seek out to enhance the Christmas mood. Instead it seems more determined to give young males presents by having naked young woman flash their assets, while pleasing B-movie hounds with it's odd gore, strange story, and basically random violence, all the while trying to make a tad bit of sense. The effects aren't top notch but they're watchable. With all the deaths going down, it's apparent that if you're planning a career as Santa Claus, this film could make you think twice.
User Review - 4/10 by Nicholas BSanta's around Central London are being murdered and Scotland Yard are on the case to stop him before he strikes again. A frankly bonkers flick that is just about bareable simply because it is so daft. It is all too obvious who the killer with the 'smiley' eyes is. Dumb but not much fun.
