Movie Reviews

Polygon - 9/10 by Petrana RadulovicHawke and Mendes do a fantastic job of never giving the audience a clear person to root for. At first, their friendship seems inspired, as they unite against those who wronged them. But then it turns one-sided and toxic. And then it mutates into something else entirely.
Collider - 8/10 by Emily BernardIf you’re looking for a typical teen movie riddled with clichés and stereotypes, keep scrolling through your Netflix queue. This daring dark comedy both pays homage to and deconstructs the ‘90s high school set films you know and love, and does so with deliciously satisfying results.
NME - 8/10 by Paul BradshawMade with bubblegum bite by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (writer on MTV’s Sweet/Vicious and Marvel’s Thor: Love And Thunder), the film takes its place in the cult yearbook with an ironic wink – dropping movie references as fast as it does one-liners.
The Guardian - 8/10 by Adrian HortonIts outsized mean girl ruthlessness with a candy-coated shell, led by Mendes and Hawke’s commanding performances, is a biting, if overlong, good time.
Paste Magazine - 8/10 by Anna GovertIt’s got enough biting snark to hook viewers from the jump, and enough heart to keep them around until the end.
RogerEbert.com - 8/10 by Matt Zoller SeitzThe characters are constructs who are so aware of themselves as constructs (and the plot, too) that there's really no reason why we should feel for them, but we do, thanks to the lead performances, the direction, and the kidding/not kidding vibe of the entire production.
IndieWire - 8/10 by Jude DryThe juicy teen drama of Do Revenge is a contemporary riff on an age-old classic. It’s nothing if not of the moment, and at the moment, teenagers are reading the same panic-inducing headlines as everyone else. If they want to do a little revenge on a world that seems hell bent on driving humanity off a cliff, Do Revenge offers some clever entertainment for the ride.
Screen Rant - 8/10 by Alexander HarrisonRobinson's film is not without things to say, and the combination of a dialed-up Mendes and a dialed-in Hawke make receiving that message a fun, engrossing experience. It is, in other words, exactly what it set out to be, and with any luck, it'll be named alongside the titles it so admires on many a teen movie listicle to come.
The New York Times - 7/10 by Amy NicholsonDo Revenge, directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, is a playful, sharp-fanged satire that feels like the ’90s teen comedy hammered into modern emojis: crown, knife, fire, winky face.
The A.V. Club - 7/10 by Courtney HowardWhile there are major missteps, overall its bright, spirited attitude and attractive, propulsive gusto power a delightfully wicked journey.
