Leave your thoughts about Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!.
Hindustan TimesRohit VatsIt's a film that will keep you glued to the screen for all the 135 minutes it runs into. Don't think of even missing a minute of it.
The Times of IndiaSrijana Mitra DasStraight up, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! is possibly India's best-looking sleuth flick till now.
The New York TimesRachel SaltzThe twisty story has a kink or two too many, a problem of whodunit plotting rather than of Bollywood excess. And the war comes across here as a kind of heightened backdrop rather than real crisis. But these aren’t fatal deficiencies in a film more attuned to movie-made ideas of history and style than to history itself.
Hindustan TimesAnupama ChopraIt's fascinating to see Byomkesh evolve as the case does. He sees the heart of darkness and emerges wiser, more mature and, ironically, a tad more joyful. It's a demanding role and Sushant Singh Rajput more than delivers.
ScreenAnarchyJ HurtadoDetective Byomkesh Bakshy is good, but there's no real anchor in the film on which I can pin its success, and perhaps that is a marker that its success isn't all that successful.
Mumbai MirrorRahul DesaiIt's good, but I'd much rather enjoy this director's cheeky experiments with characters and convention, over pulp and form.
ReutersShilpa JamkhandikarRajput immerses himself as Bakshy and comes out on top, but the film itself never manages to soar, despite threatening to do so many times.
GuardianFaiza S. KhanAdventure fails to permeate the listlessness of this overlong, self-indulgent would-be thriller.
User ReviewShiv NDetective Byomkesh Bakshy is a visual treat that is not to be missed!! It's a murder mystery with World War ll in the background, boiling and steering and ready to erupt at any minute. It's nothing like Bollywood's ever seen before. What attention to details. Nothing is out of place. Every frame is carefully measured and thought out. The camera work, the screenplay, the cinematography, everything is world class. The soundtrack is a welcome change from the usual Bollywood mainstream music. The opening credit track Jaanam is stuck in my head and I'm lovin it. The ensemble cast is very well casted. Especially Anand Tiwari as the and Neeraj Kabi. They are both top performers. And what do I say about Sushant Singh Rajput. He is just brilliant as DBB. A force to be reckoned with. He is a star. Thank you Dibakar Banerjee for not disappointing us..yet again!!
User ReviewKushal PAn amazing and graphic script. If not for the alternative history depicted herein or the art direction, the story shall be remembered for its villain. In a way its texture is equivalent to that of Greg Yaitanes
