EspinofAlberto AbuínA viciously spectacular film. [Full review in Spanish]
User ReviewHaytham K"Demetrius and the Gladiators" is one of the greatest of all gladiator films, much better than the silly and boring Russell Crowe's "Gladiator". Film highlights: Jay Robinson's flamboyant portrayal of the mad Emperor Caligula, and Susan Hayward's wonderful performance as the amoral temptress Messalina.
User ReviewJose Athe second part of "The Robe" this is very nice
User ReviewJean TI'm watching it right now as part ofa double feature with "The Robe". Loving every minute of it!
User ReviewKelvin MEnjoyed it very much. Sword and sandel movies at their best.
User ReviewDiane BVintage historical movie - they don't make this type of movie anymore - well done performances by Victor Mature and Susan Hayward.
User ReviewElizabeth GEnjoyed it very much. Sword and sandel movies at their best.
User ReviewSarah FThis movie is great! If you've seen Ridley Scotts Gladiator, then you must take a look at this one. The fight scenes are kinda corny by todays standards but this is one of the early films that probably inspired many other films with the same theme today (Gladiator is a fine example). BUT i must say one thing: You must see The Robe to understand this one since this movie is the natural continuation of The Robe.
User ReviewWilliam WThis was a solid and very satisfying sequel to 'The Robe' for me. I have both a soft spot for swords-and-sandals epics of days gone by, and a preferential fondness for films from cinema's studio glory days of the 20's to 60's--not to mention my enjoyment of earlier Daves' classics such as 'The Petrified Forest', 'Dark Passage' and 'Destination Tokyo'--so this was like a fine red wine for me.
User ReviewSteve GMakes the barbarism of Rome seem sophisticated. My takeaway: THE KING OF CARTOONS! Is it just me, or is this Spartacus? All the chicks are crazy about Demetrius. People who don't like this are descendants of Caligula. I hate the notion that only after seeing a miracle can you believe. And you're forced to stop when good things stop happening.
