New York TimesMargaret LyonsIn an era when so much of comedy is about intimacy and candor, a special this constructed - there's an easel and everything - feels refreshing.
DeciderSean L. McCarthyYou get a taste of all of Martin's talents here.
UproxxAndrew HusbandAs always, audiences can expect lots of one-liners, drawings, and music, albeit with a new narrative flair.
AV ClubDennis PerkinsEven tarting up his act with music, a sketch pad, and, here, running snatches of inner monologue, a Demetri Martin set plays out in pleasantly amusing but ultimately pretty forgettable fashion.
User ReviewRachel SBetter title would be the observer. The act perhaps could be ENTERTAINING if he DIDN'T emit a resounding DOUCHEBAG vibe and had a life filled with EXPERIENCES as opposed to him viewing life from the outside. He is full of observation but lacking in hands on experience. All of his life experience appears to be reading about something or observing it so he is often off the mark but anyone who also hasn't experienced the same things could relate because they are in the observation seat as well when he tells his jokes. It's not a show for people who experienced life as you'll feel he never WENT through any rites of passage in becoming a man and is still an ADOLESCENT. I imagine him playing with a yo-yo in his spare time and reading book then peering out of his window at other men that are about to head to the gym after coming home from a day of productive work. So his chosen photo for this page is perfect..... he is watching but not doing.
