Ozus' World Movie Reviews - 6/10 by Dennis SchwartzA pleasant offbeat romantic comedy about middle-aged opposites making a love connection against all odds.
User Review - 10/10 by Paul SGeraldine Page will break your heart (if you have one to break) and I'm not kidding. Her subtle use of facial expression reveals her soul, and if one puts one's self in the frame of the late 50's and early 60's when "Realism" was the rage (such as Sir Laurence Olivier dipping his toes into this pool with "The Entertainer") and then adapting your own realism to the fact that films had to make money, then you can forgive the kind of brazenly mis-informed critiques of Bosley Crowther (who clearly had not a sentimental bone in his body) and you will watch Page's face register the internal gauge of the emotional state of the woman she plays. Caught in a half-fantasy half-dreadful reality, she has created a world within herself and the plot allows her to utilize her brilliance to make you fall for her. I did.
User Review - 8/10 by Nancy RCharming, poignant, true to it's very sympathetic characters. Just loved it.
User Review - 8/10 by Greg WOffbeat romance between traveling salesman Glenn Ford and quirky postmistress Geraldine Page. Not a very successful film when it came out, but this is one that deserves a second look from audiences. I'd never heard of this film before, but I'm a big Glenn Ford fan, which is why I decided watch it. Director Delbert Mann brings the same kind of rich characterization be brought to "Marty" and there is a top notch supporting cast, that includes Angela Lansbury and Richard Deacon. Then top it off with a fine Henry Mancini and you have a seriously underrated film!
User Review - 8/10 by Blair K88/100. An exceptional, and I feel a very underrated film with Geraldine Page giving an outstanding and unforgettable performance. She gives the character of Evie so many personal nuances and touches. She really is amazing. Angela Lansbury is also incredible in a supporting role, and nails the character with confidence and style. A lot of the smaller characters are television staples, Richard Deacon, Hal Smith, Ruth McDevitt and Alice Pearce. Barbara Nichols gives a very memorable and funny performance as the woman at the concessions counter. It is a wonderfully simple and uncomplicated story. Delbert Mann does a superb job with his subtle direction. Very well written with deeply developed characters you care about. Glenn Ford is quite good in a warm and subtle performance. A very special gem of a film.
User Review - 8/10 by David EGeraldine Page is so sweet and vulnerable in this. Ford is his reticent self. Complete opposites that attract. The Romantic interplay is a slow burn, but worth every minute . At first glance, this pairing seems very awkward. But, In time they become sensitive and enrapture the differences they share.
