Set in eighteenth century Edinburgh, Scotland, and based on the life of one of the most notorious people in Scotland's history. Deacon Brodie (Sir Billy Connolly) holds the keys to the city, and, coincidentally, is the most successful burglar. When his gallows design is rejected by the council, he faces financial ruin and so sets about a huge robbery. However, this goes wrong and he faces death by his own invention.... | User ReviewDavid SHistorical Drama!? Save yourself a lot of time and money, if you are thinking of buying this on DVD. I got it on an old VHS tape and watched it to the end. Whoever was the researcher for this BBC film should be hung. It is full of flaws from beginning to end. The cast tries to make the script work but having Billy Connolly as the central man doesn't help this dross. If you want to find out about the man called Deacon Brodie then my advice is buy a book. The one star is for the Cover for the tape. |
