Movie Reviews

Patheos - 10/10 by Eve TushnetDays is a tract, my friend, a folded brochure of a film, rescued by Jack Lemmon's charm and some good dark camerawork.
Video-Reviewmaster.com - 9/10 by Steve CrumGrim, strong drama about alcoholism with Lemmon and Remick's stellar work.
EmanuelLevy.Com - 8/10 by Emanuel LevyExcept for the (fake) ending, this is one of Hollywood's best films about the devastating effects of alcoholism, going beyond Wilder's Lost Weekend, and proficiently helmed by Blake Edwards just before the Pink Panther films changed completely his career
Chicago Tribune - 8/10 by Michael WilmingtonWithering study of white-collar alcoholics.
Chicago Reader - 8/10 by Dave KehrEdwards's attention to detail pays off; while this isn't his best film, it is far superior to most problem dramas of the early 60s.
Empire - 8/10 by William ThomasThe second half occasionally descends into melodrama, but for the most part this is bleak, non-judgemental, riveting stuff.
User Review - 10/10 by Rick Qa perfect ending is something that's hard to achieve, but blake edwards' "days of wine and roses" has just that. the film is a far cry from the other films i've seen from the director, but it was a fantastic film with a brilliant performance from jack lemmon.
User Review - 10/10 by x xAlmost certainly the greatest film there will ever be about alcoholism, anchored by career-best performances from Lemmon and Remick, and disquietingly, wrenchingly true.
User Review - 10/10 by Michael LJack Lemmon and Lee Remick deserved oscars for this.
User Review - 10/10 by Ryan JI first noticed Lee Remick in "Anatomy of a Murder," and I immediately sought out her other work. Her performance in "Days of Wine and Roses," amazed me. But, of course, her performance isn't the only shining component in this film. Even Lemmon, much to my surprise, was wonderful. I wasn't alive in the sixties, but I think it's safe to say this film was far ahead of its time. The story's darkness was something audiences of that era could not have been used to. This is a great film. Hopefully, it'll be given a proper Blu Ray transfer soon, ensuring its availability for future generations.
