Strange and dark realities perforate human lives. Larger-than-life events like the pandemic, globalization, inequality, virtuality and climate change disturb the private spheres and public spaces. These events can be called hyperobjects, as they transcend human observation. We are lost, on the road to the next fata morgana, clinging on to the comfort of stories, collective events, and virtuality. We can become nomads, aware of the temporary appearing realities, however at ease with their strangeness, and eventually embracing the road to travel. Starting from personal explorations and departures, this short film creates an awareness of today's hyperobjects and their impact on the human sphere. The footage in this poem of images, sound, music, and words is captured in Antwerp, Belgium, the day before the lock-down, in the autumn of 2020. Is there a darker paint than grey before embarking on a new existence? An invite to a strange but familiar landscape.
