In hopes of avenging his father's death as well as of liberating the kingdom from Turkish annexation, Vlad III Dracula, renowned as Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler), raises an army and sets a bloody revolution ablaze that hastily sweep throughout the land. As war rages on, he becomes all the more murderous and sadistic, growing particularly fond of impaling his victims and publicly display their bodies by hanging them alongside walls and from trees. In response, the Church spreads rumors about him, saying that he, apart from being a cold-blooded killer, is, amongst other things, a blood-sucking vampire. But neither does the rumors hardly concern him nor do they weaken his aim to settle a score with his traitorous brother Radu, who, despite that Vlad rescues his peoples from oppression, sides with the enemy.

User ReviewCrystal SIt's not an idiotic play on the vampire story of Dracula, those who like history and the true blood and gore of Vlad the Impaler will love this movie.
User Reviewcarrie cBest Dracula movie ive seen...Rudolf Martin did a great job...They need to make this a big screen movie with better effects and i think it would be awesomer...
User ReviewSusan TThough not released in theaters I believe this is the only worthy tale of the historical Draculea. If it had only been given a bigger budget and perhaps had someone other than Jane March play Elizabeta it would've been as big as Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula. The historical Prince is someone that is often distorted into whatever Hollywood needs at the time. This doesn't gloss over the hard stuff (nor does it do more than brush the surface). Vlad Draculea III is considered a hero to the Romanian people even today. If you think about it, there is a reason for this- which the movie points out clearly. Rudolf Martin does justice to the role and captures the more pensive side of the 15th century warlord prince. If you're interested in what's behind Bram Stoker's story then see this movie!
User ReviewAnna dHistorically inaccurate, terrible acting by the female lead but i LOVED it, been waiting a long time to see a movie about Vlad rather than Dracula and this one was done well - it's attempts to seperate fact from myth were handled quite well, a few facts thrown in against Hollywood rewrites, however i think the fact that it's made for the sci-fi channel made it better than a bigger budget movie would've and could not have asked for a better Vlad than Rudolf Martin...even if he was very tall to play someone who was supposed to have been tiny! Very glad they included the scene where he eats his dinner surrounded by impaled nobles and the turbans being nailed to the heads!
User ReviewAmberlee BWhile they take thier libertys to make it intresting probably the closest histrical Vlad the Impaler movie you will ever see!
