Movie Reviews

Chicago Reader - 8/10 by Pat Graham George Romero contributes the screenplay this time, basing it on some tastefully selected Stephen King morsels.
Combustible Celluloid - 7/10 by Jeffrey M. Anderson It's filled out with a shoddy, animated wraparound sequence and it's all dropped in the hands of an inexperienced director, Michael Cornick.
New York Times - 6/10 by Janet Maslin The episodes are marginally interesting, but each is a little too long. And each could be fully explained in a one-sentence synopsis.
SciFiNow - 6/10 by Jonathan Hatfull 1987's Creepshow 2 never matches the heights of its predecessor, but those looking for more of the original's blend of throwback comic book chills and gory shocks should give this loving restoration from 88 Films a look.
Miami Herald - 6/10 by Hal Boedeker Creepshow 2 is a cut-rate sequel from those two popular masters of horror, Stephen King and George Romero, that plays like leftovers. Fans of both deserve better. The second--and the only one of the three stories that King has published--is the best. This vignette is effective because it's simple and suspenseful, but it's not enough to carry the whole movie.
Slant Magazine - 4/10 by Eric Henderson Ultimately, the hitchhiker's immortal catchphrase "thanks for the ride, lady" is just another way of saying "Yessuh, massuh."
The Globe and Mail (Toronto) - 4/10 by John Allemang King and Romero -- the horror genre's equivalent of the daily double -- are back on the storyboard for 2, but with director Michael Gornick in charge, 2 goes nowhere slowly. Part of the problem is that King's short stories simply work better in print.
Cinema Crazed - 3/10 by Felix Vasquez Jr. In the realm of anthology horror, you could do a lot worse. I'm looking at you "Tales from the Hood."
