Every nuclear weapon made, every watt of electricity produced from a nuclear power plant leaves a trail of nuclear waste that will last for the next four hundred generations. We face the problem of how to warn the far distant future of the nuclear waste we have buried --but how to do it? How to imagine the far-distant threats to the sites, what kinds of monuments can be built, could stories or legends safeguard our descendants? Filmed at the only American nuclear burial ground, at a nuclear weapons complex and in Fukushima, the film grapples with the ways people are dealing with the present problem and imagining the future. Part observational essay, part graphic novel, Containment explores the idea that over millennia, nothing stays put.

Movie Reviews

Starburst - 9/10 by Paul MountStark, brittle, disquieting and with an ending to rival The Mist for bleakness, Containment is British genre cinema to champion and one to shout about from the nearest rooftop.
HeyUGuys - 8/10 by Gloria Daniels-MossContainment proves that you don't need a whopping great budget, nor an A-list cast to produce an accomplished piece of work.
Flick Filosopher - 6/10 by MaryAnn JohansonThere's nothing groundbreaking in this low-budget sci-fi thriller, but newbie director Mcenery-West makes excellent use of his claustrophobic setting.
SciFiNow - 6/10 by Katherine McLaughlinStrong attention to detail and a disquieting score set this debut feature apart, but some of the characters' motivations aren't entirely convincing.
Radio Times - 6/10 by Andrew CollinsGets by on resourcefulness and sincerity.
Empire Magazine - 6/10 by Kim NewmanA good British sci-fi thriller that makes good use of tight spaces.
Guardian - 6/10 by Leslie FelperinWhile the dialogue is tainted by a few panic-thriller platitudes, and it is clear first-time director Neil McEnery-West needs to work on coaxing the best from actors, this is a zippy, clean-cut work.
User Review - 10/10 by Trisha FFantastic start to a very good action-packed, romantic series. Recommended for anyone. This is a MUST SEE
User Review - 10/10 by Jim HA stand out low budget bio-thriller from Britain. From the script, to the direction, the photography, sound and pacing this is an accomplished work. As well as the requisite tension and scares, there's a surprising amount of wit in this well crafted script that is realised perfectly in the performances and their direction. It's a team effort in which every member of cast and crew appear to be pulling their weight, which is more than can be said of many big studio blockbusters (perhaps all this year's, save for Mad Max). There's obvious hints of Cronenberg, but what keeps this most gripping and above all, entertaining is the undercurrent of John Carpenter flowing through the runtime. From the held atmos. shots reminiscent of Halloween and Assault on Precienct 13, to the siege mentality milked in the latter and more appropriately The Thing. Looking forward to the next movie from this team.
User Review - 10/10 by Akiko AVery interesting. Love the main characters and the kids, especially Quentin. A must-watch.
