| User ReviewDavid STo say Circus of the Dead is not for the squeamish, faint-of-heart is a HUGE understatement. It's got to be one of the maybe two or three most brutal movies I've ever seen. As far as evil clowns go, Papa Corn and his murderous clown posse make Pennywise from It look like a saint. It's shocking as all hell and at times - many times, in fact - brutally hard to watch. With all that being said, it's actually really well made. It keeps you glued to your seat. And it strangely works. It's not scary; these are not clowns with supernatural powers, they're just F***ed up individuals, which makes it all the more real, all the more scary. They pay great homage to Texas Chainsaw Massacre (it's quite blatantly obvious, purposefully done), and the filmmakers (great guys I met at the screening for this movie, btw) do a fantastic job introducing/setting up their next project, Dollboy, with an awesome after-credits scene. Only see this movie if you can REALLY, truly handle some tough s**t on your screen, but it's oddly very good. Papa Corn creeps me the hell out. |
