User ReviewPH HAlbert, il me régale à tous les coups! Comme quoi on sait encore faire des bons films aussi!
User ReviewGerry OSuperficially a French sci-fi detective thriller with action aplenty. On the other hand, the plot raises all sorts of issues worth thinking about. A taut, dark, fast paced film with some interesting but rather pedestrian music, i really enjoyed watching it and savouring the issues afterwards.
User ReviewIvo BKick-ass Sci Fi movie. Very dark, moody, beautifully shot. Conspiracy theories and crunching fight sequences. Damn the French make good movies. Its probably what the Vin Diesel nonsense (Babylon AD) was trying to be.
User Reviewintuciic .completely loved it! the way it was filmed was interesting, with changing live pictures of the objects, giving the right mood for the scene. places of Paris which brought through a nice memory path. amazing!
User ReviewSimon WThe french really are good filmmakers. The story doesn't offer anything new or exciting, but this movie does have some decent fight scenes and the stylish way in which it was filmed was nothing short of spectacular. The camera work kept this movie interesting. The inventive cinematography was the real star of the show, and you could tell that it was crafted by an artist. I had never heard of Julien Leclercq, but rest assured now I will be watching for anything he does.
User ReviewBryan FFrom the synopses I was not expecting much, but it was really quite good. I was relying on subtitles, so the experience of the original French may vary. Definitely aiming to make a film rather than just a movie, and succeeded much of the time. I like that it's futuristic, but not blatantly Sci-Fi, and the future technology was seamless and natural. The acting was mostly good, really liked the two leads, and the cinematography was great.
User ReviewShane HVery good French sci-fi film, worth checking out.
User ReviewGary TThe first thing that is striking about this movie is the dark foreboding atmosphere throughout, which thoroughly suits the movie. The director has created some great sequences that are visually stunning, really great cinematography. On top of this the hand to hand combat and actions scenes are fantastic. I would say the fight scenes are some of the best I have ever seen. The story is well thought out, containing divergent main lines that intertwine, without being convoluted and is not wholly dependant on some final super dramatic twist, though it does have one. The dialogue is well above standard which would only leave the acting to let it down, but no, surprise surprise, the acting is excellent. So what did let it down? The moodiness of the movie sometimes had the undesirable effect of slowing the pace down to the point where you feel like its dragging its heals. Overall though I loved it.
User ReviewRichard CGotta admit, I didn't know the French were good with cyberpunk thrillers.
User ReviewBart &It's...it's different, for the most part. I loved the complex storyline and the interconnection between the seemingly disparate characters, not to mentioned the ridiculously well-choreographed fight scenes. The movie's one flaw, however, is that in the last half-hour it doesn't trust the audience to accept the convoluted nature of the story, so the characters sit and explain to each other what is happening, which is one of my pet peeves of movies! Don't tell us; SHOW US what is happening! If you look past those few scenes, however, what you'll find is a unique and very dark thriller; not totally something we've never seen before, but enough so that it proves to be a breath of fresh air.
