It's turning out to be a pretty rotten Christmas for the Saunders family. Having just moved to Edmonton, Alberta from Los Angeles, California, they have no friends, no money, and, with the exception of the bright-eyed Mary (Amy and Zoe Schlagel), no Christmas spirit. To make matters worse, their mother, Judy (Rachel Hayward), is stuck in Los Angeles, stranded by airline overbookings. So, the Christmas shopping duties fall on dad, Wayne (Patrick Swayze), and the gloomy kids. Things start looking a bit more like Christmas when twelve-year-old Brian (Matthew Knight) and six-year-old Mary find a satchel of money at the local mall and they launch a Yuletide shopping spree, that is, until the crooks who counterfeited the money chase them through the mall packed with holiday shoppers.

Movie Reviews

Radio Times - 4/10 by Jamie HealySwayze is given little to work with as the bewildered dad, while Tim Curry's shameless turn as a Royal Mountie with an inexplicable Scot's accent is sheer panto excess.
Times (UK) - 2/10 by Wendy IdeWith all due respect to his memory, it is truly execrable, a tawdry seasonal exploitation pic set almost entirely within a giant mall. Swayze fans, do yourself a favour and rent Point Break instead.
Guardian - 2/10 by Catherine ShoardThe note of morbidity lends faint interest to a film that's like spending an hour and a half inside an Argos catalogue.
ViewLondon - 2/10 by Matthew TurnerTraditionally dreadful Christmas comedy that's brought down by a combination of atrocious acting, terrible writing, cloying sentimentality and jaw-droppingly bad special effects.
User Review - 10/10 by Benjamin RThis is one of my favourite Christmas films, always a must to watch at Christmas on a yearly basis. First discovered it on the Christmas 24 channel, and have loved it ever since, so much so I purchased the DVD for it. The main reason why this film is so good, is because of the comedic values it has. It is set in what is an ordinary every-day environment, yet has lots of adventure. This helps with connection -> engagement with the film. There are loads of funny scenes (mainly the the royal mountain Canadian police) where the inspector makes lots of funny comments on the situations and never addresses topics with their proper names, making him seem a bit ill, but is ever so funny. The acting skill of this actor is incredible. I would go on, but as you can probably tell, I am terrible at writing sentences, I saw its poor score here, which in my view is no way representative of the film at all. I think that it is an amazing film, and I encourage you to watch it.

User Review - 10/10 by Jillianr.OK it is a Little out of the giving chrisms spirit. but over all it is a funny outrageous take on the dream every kid has of finding 1M dollars in the biggest toy store in the world. malls are toy stores for kids and adults RIGHT. over all fun time for kids.
