Reel Film ReviewsDavid Nusair...it seems fairly obvious that the film would have been more effective as a 22-minute cartoon...
Common Sense MediaTracy MooreCheesy slapstick comedy with a near-death dog scene.
User ReviewStephen KNot good, but when I saw this on the big screen at age 8, I thought it was pure genius. It's still pretty amusing and the score is infectious.
User Review?۩ IñVéRt ÐI have no idea what the reason is, but this movie s my favourite of all time, for some or other reason I always have to watch it every now and then. It is completely stupid, not worth the time and totally hopeless, yet I love it
User ReviewMax SI loved this when I was 7. To watch it now, however, would be torture.
User ReviewJoe VMore enjoyable than you might think. Basically, it's a movie-length 70's-era Hanna-Barbera cartoon, complete with Hoyt Curtin musical score. Approach it that way, and you'll enjoy it a lot more.
User ReviewAllan CI did enjoy this live-action Hannah-Barbera family comedy about a robot dog helping fight crime, but it was probably more out of 1970s nostalgia than this being an actually good film. Not only does the film feature a campy disco score, goofy looking robotics, you also get Valerie Bertinelli and Conrad "Different Strokes" Bain. There's also Red Buttons & Chuck McCann as the villains and small parts for Larry Bishop and Jim Backus. This film was apparently the first of what was a planned multi-picture deal between Hanna-Barbera and American International Pictures, but after the film flopped, there were no other made, which is too bad because this film had an enjoyably goofy vibe that reminded me a lot of Disney live-action pictures around this time, like "Candleshoe" or "The North Avenue Irregulars."
User ReviewMark ENostalgic, but may not hold up for everyone
User ReviewShawn WThis is actually quite a disturbing film - its kind of like Re-Animator for kids - the dogs head keeps getting removed and left lying around! Poor little kiddies! This one is right up there with Watership Down for being unintentionally scary. For the discerning adult this is seriously boring and dated. Watch it to be horrified at the seventies fashion, laugh at the awful acting and be disturbed by the repeatedly decapitated doggie.
User Reviewyvonne pKids film with digital home security watchdog on patrol. As bad as anything from the Disney factory and no coincidence the star dog bears a certain resemblance to Benji. I can only presume Red Buttons was funny at one time.
