User ReviewJon AClassic army coutroom drama that manages to be gripping without ever being dry. Above all it's very, very British. Horrible ending, though, which just seems to peter out.
User ReviewAnne FNot the greatest of courtroom dramas, but David Niven gives a controlled performance of the court-marshalled soldier which makes it very watchable.
User ReviewMark DThe story is slight and somewhat overblown but the twists towards the end are effective and the performances keep you involved.
User ReviewPaul CDavid Niven is maliciously accused of theft by his scheming Commanding Officer - but wins the day. and the girl, whilst maintaining his dignity and stiff upper lip throughout! Quality British courtroom drama.
User ReviewAndrew HThis is an interesting film as there is hardly any background to the characters or any background to the incident of the court martial. That is because up until half way through the film it is up to the audience to judge Carrington; This is done quite cleverly. There are no flash backs it is told as it would be through a court room David Niven plays Carrington quite well as there isn't actuallt that much movement in the film but is more to do with dialogue, tone of voice and body language. Overall this is quite a good film with over three quarters of the film in a court room and it has a rather dramatic ending.
