Movie Reviews

Hollywood Reporter - 6/10 by Frank ScheckDelivering a fully committed, moving performance, Thomas Haden Church makes you pay attention to a figure you would otherwise pass by without a second thought.
We Got This Covered - 5/10 by Will AshtonCardboard Boxer isn’t meant to be subtle or subversive. That’s fine. It doesn’t need to be. But it does need to feel sincere or at least genuine, and that’s only occasionally the case with Lee’s underwhelming debut.
Los Angeles Times - 4/10 by Michael RechtshaffenAlthough he effectively establishes the downtrodden milieu, Lee’s script ultimately succumbs to mounting clichés and plot contrivances.
The New York Times - 4/10 by Helen T. VerongosMr. Church fully inhabits the character, making the most of Willie’s dented moral sense and his many limitations. But the film constructs some too-perfect solutions to problems and manipulates our emotions.
Village Voice - 4/10 by Simon AbramsBy emphasizing the uglier aspects of his most complex character, Lee turns an otherwise down-to-earth slice-of-life drama into an unconvincing morality play.
User Review - 10/10 by AnnJenkin1844This is one of the best feel good movies that I have ever seen. It is totally accurate with the emotions, the acting and script, having been homeless a lot myself for decades, I would know. I also have seen others homeless as Church depicts, who also had a heart of gold and compassion, though suffering immensely. This movie is a rare gem, medicine for the broken heart, and to anyone who needs to feel good. I would still be homeless today, if it were not for a police officer in Florida, who I begged to arrest me. He became the biggest hero in my life, and got me out of the hopeless, homelessness, and to this day, I thank God for cops like him.
User Review - 10/10 by Jocey DI love this movie. we need more movies with great actors like this. it has been a very long time that a movie really made me tear. Great acting and great movie. I seriously don't understand the critics. They should chill and appreciate good. ..
User Review - 10/10 by Dal GGreat movie, great story line, brilliant cast which bought real life to this movie. Very touching
User Review - 10/10 by Lauren DThomas Haden Church is a miracle in this film. I cannot believe people gave this a negative review. Hard? Sure. Painful? Absolutely. And yet... what are we if not compassionate enough to listen, to bear witness and, because we have been educated, to act, and make a change?
User Review - 10/10 by Mike GIt has a clumsy start, but more than well worth it. I won't admit it to anyone else, but there are a couple of scenes I cry my eyes out. Mr. Church is amazing. Terrance is solid as always.
