Slant MagazineEric HendersonToday, irony has started to look more and more like the death knell for serious horror films, and so the relative straightforwardness of a Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter is a welcome throwback.
EspinofAlberto AbuínA film with laughable dialogues and some awkwardness in its staging. [Full review in Spanish]
User ReviewDavid S"And did you win your battles, or lose them?" "A little of both - and not enough of either."
User ReviewNigel MOh man, oh man. I got this movie as a gift and I have to admit I enjoyed every minute of it. They don't make movies like this anymore.
User ReviewStephen CA swashbuckling vampire hunter with a hunchback sidekick, what more could you want. Kronos carries a katana and a chippie on shoulder. Yes, a katana in 19th century England. This is one of the many things that make him bad ass.
User ReviewR.John Xthe peasant girls are in danger in the woods again! Luckily for Caroline Munro, looking brilliant and acting through hair flips, the sword buckling master vampire killer is here. Captain Kronos, himself, is a bit of a dork. But he has a hunchback, academic assistant who is probably a Red Communist or at least a Trotskyite. Of course, you figure out who or WHOM is behind all the blood draining fairly quickly, but luckily the movie does not waste any time making you wait for the pay off. Great movie this one. Especially for the tree sitting stake outs and the weird dead frog traps.
User ReviewJason DGreat vampire hunter flick! They don't make them like this anymore.
User ReviewSean GLike VAMPIRE CIRCUS, this is a Hammer flick with a different idea of vampires. Had Hammer remained in the horror biz, there might have been some sequels to this, which would have been great.
User ReviewKyle EIf I had Dracula invading my life...eff calling Van Helsing, Anthony Hopkins, or anyone else that's carried a wooden stake around in the last century in the world of horror. Kronos is the man, and he gets stuff done. Think a pswashbuckling pirate crossed with a vampire hunter, and you have the amazingness (yes I created a word to symbolize my love for this movie) that you get to see in this film. 91 minutes of pure awesomeness. You won't be disappointed.
User ReviewMichael THorst Janon is a very blonde and wooden in the role of Captain Kronos, late of some Imperial Guard, who is one of Europe's finest swordsmen and a professional vampire hunter. The guy is very good in the action roles and the film works very well, providing a neat twist on the vampire legend. The film also has Caroline Munro as Kronos' love interst, always a plus. And it was directed by Brian Clemens who was one of the creative forces behind the British cult-TV series THE AVENGERS, another plus.
