| Austin ChronicleJerry RenshawSharp-eyed viewers will spot director Corman, Martin Scorsese, Sylvester Stallone, Joe Dante, and Paul Bartel in bit parts while Mary Woronov takes an incredibly long time to maneuver her van through a multi-car pileup. Sure, it's a ripoff. Sure it's brainless. Cannonball is still a definitive drive-in car chase flick that's gonna make you want to tromp the gas pedal and burn rubber on the way home. |

| Chicago Sun-TimesRoger EbertIt tries for the greatest realism in its obligatory shots of gas tanks exploding, and yet includes such absurdities as a local news helicopter that tracks all of the competitors all the way from LA to New York. To be sure, without the traffic copter the story would have been impossible to follow - but then why follow the story anyway? In the meantime, can we possibly hold our breath for "Gumball Rally?" I'll bet I can. |

| User ReviewBoris vcontinuing with my car movie theme recently... i only discovered the existence of this movie 2 days ago - the "gumball rally" and "cannonball run" i've seen a few times. this has some great car footage - much better than "cannonball run". all though this movie is darker than the other 2, people die in this one and there are some horrible wrecks. unlike the other 2 movies in this one they race west to east rather than east to west. if you like seeing 70's muscle cars open up on the highway this is worth watching. |
