Lyles' Movie FilesJeffrey LylesCandy Jar is a surprisingly sweet and touching teen romance drama that goes down easy and had me craving seconds.
Common Sense MediaBarbara ShulgasserDrama about debate team rivals has some cursing.
The Daily DotEddie Strait'Candy' turns out to be the most apropos way to describe Candy Jar. It's reliably sweet and empty, a fine choice for anyone looking for a light option.
Herald Sun (Australia)Leigh PaatschThough supposedly on the same side, Bennett and Lona will stop at nothing to one-up each other until ... well, what do you reckon?
Movie NationRoger MoorePositive message, but tame, predictable and the few jokes that work die of loneliness.
User ReviewLisa BFeel good fun flick. Very relatable if you or your kid is heading to college. A lot of amazing performances including Uzo Aduba and Paul Tigue!!
User ReviewConnor PAMAZING MOVIE, got me crying at a few places
User ReviewAndrea%20 HOne of the many life-changing movies of all time that demonstrates clearly how living in the moment is the best way to lead an unexpected yet happy life.
User ReviewVidhya MGood movie, lots of fun! Not revolutionary, but does a pretty good job portraying debate competitions and the leads have good chemistry. Plus Uza Abuda is in it so that's amazing. Nice light watch, excellent for the high school romance genre - with just enough chessieness that it's not cringey or taking itself too seriously. A minor character dies somewhat unexpectedly, and it isn't extremely well done, but doesn't take too much away from the overall movie. Highly recommend to kill some time. Very cute!
User ReviewMichael LThis is bloody great. The writing is fantastic. The acting is - well really everything about it is top notch. Yes, it is overly sweet, predictable - it's Hollywood. But it put a smile on my face all the way through and if you like good craft in movies, this is a rare Netflix triumph.
