The Decepticons led by Shockwave, Soundwave and Starscream ambush them during the evacuation, and Optimus sends a young scout, B-127, to Earth in order to set up a base of operations where the Autobots can regroup. B-127 reaches Earth alone in 1987, crash-landing in California and disrupting a training exercise being conducted by Sector 7, a secret government agency that monitors extraterrestrial activity on Earth. Sector 7 agent Colonel Jack Burns presumes B-127 to be a hostile invader and attacks, driving B-127 into the forest, where he is then ambushed by the Decepticon Blitzwing. When B-127 refuses to reveal Optimus' whereabouts, Blitzwing spitefully tears out his voice-box and damages his memory core. B-127 manages to destroy Blitzwing before collapsing from his wounds. Before entering stasis, B-127 scans and transforms into a yellow 1967 Volkswagen Beetle.

Movie Reviews

ComicBook Debate - 9/10 by Sheraz FarooqiBumblebee is one of the strongest films in the franchise and a rebirth for the series going forward.
What I Watched Tonight - 9/10 by Matt HudsonIt's happened, sound the sirens - "Autobots, roll out"...because Bumblebee is the best Transformers movie of them all.
Alternative Lens - 9/10 by Jennifer HeatonIt does everything the Bay movies wouldn't, embracing what's made Transformers endure for three decades, and infusing it with a much-needed dose of heart.
San Antonio Current - 9/10 by Kiko MartinezAs the first spinoff to come out of the Transformers movie franchise, Oscar-nominated director Travis Knight has managed to distinguish Bumblebee from the cinematic trash heap of spare parts that director Michael Bay has produced for the past decade.
JoBlo's Movie Emporium - 9/10 by Chris BumbrayEven if you despise the franchise, BUMBLEBEE is worth seeing.
Splash Report - 9/10 by J. Don BirnamBumblebee is a welcome reboot for a troubled franchise. Hailee Steinfeld is charming and the story entertaining enough, even if conventional.
Cinema Axis - 9/10 by Courtney SmallAs he proved in his brilliant directorial debut Kubo and the Two Strings, Knight has an ability to capture the way young people process grief in an engaging way.
The Maine Edge - 9/10 by Allen AdamsThis movie has more genuine heart and humor in its first 20 minutes than the rest of the [Transformers] series has in its collective 12.5-hour runtime.
Deseret News (Salt Lake City) - 9/10 by Josh TerryIt's actually too bad "Bumblebee" is meant to be a prequel to the other movies. It would be great if they just used this one to reboot the whole series and start over from here.
New Yorker - 9/10 by Richard BrodyWhere the Bay "Transformers" movies alternated between ecstasy and dullness, "Bumblebee" is consistently middling.
