Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzAn agreeable action-packed gangster flick.
User ReviewDavid HI have a New Favourite Movie The Great Edgar G. Robinson as the most generous Anti-Hero ever and Humphrey Bogart as treacherous Villain that he often plays in his Gangster Days in the Most Realistic Gangster Movie that reavel the Big Business as the Biggest Crime of All and show the Gangsters and Cops as Similar Characters "Hat on the Bed brings Bad Luck" "Bad Luck for me or for you"
User ReviewOliver BOne of the less famous Warner gangster pics still holds water in the 21st Century, for those with the patience to withstand the inherent, expected shortcomings.
User ReviewVeronique KOne of the more solid inclusions in Warner's "Tough Guys" boxed set has Edward G. Robinson playing a tough cop who loses his job due to corruption from the higher-ups. He gets into the rackets, resulting in everything you'd expect in a post-code gangster film. Robinson gets to punch out more people than he has in any other film. Bogart has a great part as "Bugs" Fenner, playing the scruffy gangster typical of his mid-30's roles
User ReviewHarry BAn enjoyable movie on the whole, but the ending was a bit disappointing.
User ReviewAj VApparently in the 1930's they made bullets that didn't make bullet holes or draw blood. They also had hairstyles that became unglued with a single punch. Edward G. Robinson looks like an angelic fish. Also, this movie was pretty amazing.
User ReviewEric JIt's nothing extraordinary but Edward G. is great as usual on the right side of the law this time. It's nice to see Louise Beavers getting to play something besides a maid. She's all dolled up as a flashy numbers runner.
