User ReviewBean PI was given this movie by Kane Hodder himself. After watching it I must say it was a new look into the life of the B.T.K killer. No it wasn't like all the history rather a look into the mind of this crazy man. The ending you never see coming. Over all Thank you Kane I give you 5 stars!
User ReviewFilm CGood movie about to say I'd watch it again but prolly not but really good if you're into serial killers. Kudos to the actors who make you believe.
User ReviewTom Hit is good to se Kane Hodder in a movie where he doesnt need to hide his face. poorly directed, but Hodder`s performance is the driving force here.
User ReviewTracy FI went into this expecting very little and was actually pleasantly surprised. There's actually some pretty brutal scenes in this. There's a scene where Dennis is choking this escort who ran out on him earlier on in the film and the way Dennis is describing what she's going through as he has his hands around her throat and the way it was shot with the camera going out of focus, the sound fading, and the screen going black at times...it just stood out to me and is probably the most memorable scene in the film. The film itself feels like a slightly above average direct to video film, which it pretty much is. The dialogue is medicore at best and the acting is pretty bad at times, especially when it comes to Rader's wife and two daughters. The deciding factor of the film that makes it worth watching is Kane Hodder. I can't really decide if he did a pretty exceptional job in the film as an actor or if the other actors in the film were just...not good. He actually showed emotion though and his dialogue wasn't flat, which is one of my biggest pet peeves in any film. He's pretty heartless throughout most of the film, but manages to get a heartfelt speech in at the end. I guess because he played Jason Voorhees for so long and had so many roles where he didn't have much dialogue that I wasn't expecting much from him in the form of acting. Something I'm happy to say I was wrong about. The film's biggest flaw isn't the bad acting since that's pretty much expected in most horror films, but the ending. The ending was just...confusing. It's like they couldn't think of a way to end the film so they edited the last scene in a way that it kept repeating itself and then jumped back to some scenes early on in the film. Sound confusing? Try watching it. It just felt cheap more than anything else. Maybe I'm overlooking it and there's something that was said that ties it all together, but it felt like more of a cop out than anything else. B.T.K. is an above average horror film that actually may be worth your time. There are some pretty decent kills in the film for the gorehounds and it might be a little more intense than you may be expecting. Kane Hodder is the film's biggest drawing point. Not only because he's the title character, but also because his acting is fairly strong in this. However, the film suffers from bad to subpar acting from the rest of the cast and the ending will more than likely leave you scratching your head. It's worth seeing, but you may want to rent it before doing something like blind buying it off the shelf.
User ReviewAmy HB.T.K is yet another entry in the serial killer films directed by serial killer aficionado Michael Feifer (A Dead Calling, Chicago Massacre: Richard Speck, Ed Gein: The Butcher of Plainfield). The film features Kane Hodder in the role of Dennis L. Rader (aka the BTK Killer) and fictional exploits of his family life and murderous rage. We get to see a hypothetical world where he tries to balance both of these. I want to try and use key words to describe this film because rather than making an actual, authentic telling of Rader's exploits, the makers of this film just want a fantastical high body count film with elements of truth. Honestly, I'm not too bothered by that. Up until now, I haven't been a huge fan of Feifer's films. A Dead Calling was an atrocious piece of nonsense that horribly misused some great cult actors. Ed Gein as a hulking giant menace (Hodder again) was as silly as casting a young, sexy stud to play Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman anyone?). But with BTK, I was very surprised. It seems as though director Feifer has really been improving his directing skills. I honestly thought there was more to Kane Hodder than just stunt work. The man can be a great actor, and BTK is proof enough. I was really into his character and he managed to bring a sense of realism to an overall fictional character based on a real person. Aside from bits and pieces of terrible acting from small, secondary support, the cast is fairly decent, as is the filmmaking. Pleasant surprise; worth a rent.
User ReviewKristin Whe played a good dennis radar but the movie was fictional based on fact. don't know why they did it that way. would have been better if they did it based totally on the true story. this man was a monster.
User ReviewRobert PThe main standout thing about this film is just how good Kane Hodder is. It's nice to actually see that he can act (and is very good too) and it's nice to see him with out a ton of make-up or a hockey mask!. The film itself is fairly run of the mill stuff. Nothing really special, but it's quite good. I do feel that the ending is rather rushed though and the making of on the DVD spoils things somewhat by saying that it's pretty much all made up and that the lead character is only "based" on the real BTK killer. In my view, if you are going to make a film "based" on a serial killer, then at least try and make it accurate. It is worth watching though.
