One of the most emblematic productions of the impressive non-fiction Cuban independent cinema movement today, "Brouwer: the origin of the shadow" proposes an immersion into the life and creative process of Leo Bruwer's, one of the most universal intellectuals in Cuban culture. The documentary's approach has no pretension to be that of a traditional biopic. It is not conceived as a descriptive, chronological, or naturalistic work. It is a radically unconventional and definitely expressionist portrait of one of the most important musicians and musical thinkers in the history of art on the island. Maestro Brouwer -considered a living legend of the Cuban guitar of the twentieth century, was pivotal to the foundation of the avant-garde ICAIC Sound Experimentation Group. He created more than two hundred movie soundtracks, among them, the score he composed in 1968 for the iconic film Lucía, by Humberto Solás, stands out.
