| User ReviewDawdlingPoetThis is a slightly strange sort of a film, in that I didn't feel there was a strong plot present, it kept the viewer in the dark about various things really but it did seem a bit intriguing - I'm not sure I could quite explain it properly. It has an arty feel in terms of some of the camerawork used in between scenes, with electronic type music played and jerky camerwork showing different parts of the city its set in (Barcelona), indicating where the driver has been and what goes on nearby. Its a watchable film and I thought the two Chinese men Boi was driving were almost intriguing in an engrossing sort of a way but I do wish the plot pace was a bit faster, as it felt a bit directionless to me, certainly by mid way through. I liked the drivers dog too but thats just a random comment I suppose. There wasn't enough to the story to keep me feeling especially engrossed, let alone 'glued to the screen' or anything near that but it was still reasonably watchable. I just didn't feel a strong (emotional) connection to the main character, Boi. Perhaps I should have but I didn't really. Also, I felt the first half of the film seemed quite dream-like - there's definitely an artificial sense to it, with the electronic type music and everything. Its ok but not great and I'd query why its been given the category 'thriller' on IMDB as I didn't feel it was particularly thrilling, certainly in the first half of the film - it does have more of a dark and perhaps even sinister feel later on but that does take a while to come. I'd say its more of a slow-ish drama. I can't recommend this title, no. |
| User ReviewJLuis_001I must say that if you aspire to be cryptic you must know that the narrative depth must match your ambitions. Ideas are abundant in this film, the lack of a cohesive execution is what is simply not seen anywhere, because that attempt to fill the story with strange characters who feel out of place but who somehow seek to give it a kind of surrealism to it, it feels tired and more than anything unsuccessful and this is for a simple reason: You don't give a damn about the main character and his journey. I understand this is the debut of its director and if so, it shows. I do not recommend it. |
