User ReviewBrian RA teenage girl and her father discover alien clones are replacing humans on a remote U.S. military base in Alabama. Great scenes and great performances. One of my fav scenes involves Gabrielle Anwar having a nice relaxing bubble bath, listening to music and then quietly these stringy particules creep slowly into the tub and on to her body while Anwar is unawar the particules is trying to reap her body. It's quite a suspenseful scene and a revelation, a great scene and great direction by Ferrara.
User ReviewDon HBy far the best adaptation of Finney's novel and the superior film version of the tale. Criminally underrated and unappreciated, any reading of social commentary regarding the setting misses the point that the more isolated a community, the easier it is to subvert. Plain and simple: This is a brilliant horror film, and perhaps Meg Tilly's best performance as the seductive, chillingly reasonable duplicate of a once-loving mother. The rest of the cast is just as skilled and engaging, and the ending will leave your skin crawl9ng for years as you recall the closing lines. Not to be missed.
User ReviewC.G. CFuck the haters. This is a great movie that will leave you scared shitless. Not because of the monsters, oh no. like any good movie does this taps into your brain and makes you do something that most of us don't do anymore: think. It may not be the best acted feature ever, certainly not the best looking. But definately one of the most thought provoking. "Where you gonna go? Where you gonna hide? Nowhere. 'Cos there's no one. Like you. Left." Indeed.
User ReviewSuper PamelaBest movie quote ever: "Where you gonna go? Where you gonna run? Where you gonna hide? Nowhere. 'Cause.. there's no one... like you... left..."
User ReviewAdam BCriminally-underrated remake of "Invasion of the Body-Snatchers" finds the pod people infestation spreading to a military base in Alabama. Gabrielle Anwar leads a solid ensemble cast, including Terry Kinney (tv's "Oz"), R. Lee Ermey, Meg Tilly and Forest Whitaker. More chilling than previous versions, mostly due to being so small in scope; whereas the previous versions explicitly dealt with a spreading threat, Ferrara's film makes the breadth of the infestation more ambiguous. Fun, chilling film.
User ReviewKevin Pthere is a scene where a kindergarden teacher says to the class raise up their pictures...as the kids raise them up i noticed most of them is the same except one...then it cuts to the teachers reaction and i was getting the feeeling that she noticed the young child hasn't been body snatched yet..that was a scary scene and it gets pretty scary throughout or at least in a way belivable as the film cont...the eroticism is suspenseful in a very clever way and never grotesque which probably saved the film but its a great achivement by Ferrara he definetly surprised me with this picture.
User ReviewTre Bluey O"Where you gonna go, where you gonna run, where you gonna hide? Nowhere... 'cause there's no one like you left." A great line from actress Meg Tilly. A teenage girl and her father discover alien clones are replacing humans on a remote U.S. military base in Alabama. Great scenes and great performances. One of my fav scenes involves Gabrielle Anwar having a relaxing bubble bath while listening to music. Then slowly with observation, stringy particules creep slowly into the walls to the bathtub. Anwar is unaware of the particules insinuating her body. One of the greatest things I've noticed in "Body Snatchers" is that people are being replaced by an ugly-like Pod Plant which takes over and kill their human victims as they sleep, turning them to dust. The plant has now inherited the victim's body become them and yet showing practically no emotion. It is downright scary stuff. Another key element is the family tensions. Anwar's character doesn't get along with her stepmom played by Meg Tilly, she also doesn't get along with her father(Terry Kinney) and her young stepbrother(Reilly Murphy) senses a wave of uncertainty when witnessing his mom. Who would have thought a picture as great as this would suit somebody like Ferrara? To me his films is almost paraell to filmmakers like Paul Schrader or Martin Scorsese, now with this picture he has succeeded on every level. It's sad "Body Snatchers" was only selected to a few limited theaters upon it's release. I was reminded of the successful Zombie pictures but compared to "Body Snatchers" those movies doesn't even come close enough let alone stand a chance.
