User ReviewWade CAn herbicide turns pot farmers into homicidal maniacs who slaughter various campers. One camper attempts to placate them with baked beans! The movie drags here and there, but in other places it achieves the gory kineticism of the masterpieces "I Drink Your Blood" (another film about killer hippies) and "Don't Go in the Woods".
User Reviewjesse pIn Toxic Zombies (though more commonly known as Bloodeaters), a group of weed growing hippies are preparing to grab up as much crop deep within the mountainous forests as they can and split, but not before viciously killing two government agents that kill one of their own. After that, the government illegally uses an experimental pesticide to kill off all the crops within the area, with bad results. After the pesticides get on the hippies, they go on a murderous zombie rampage as they start devouring campers and such throughout. It's up to a husband and wife duo, as well as two kids they pick up (one of which is severely retarded) to escape this zombie rampage and avoid corrupt government officials if they want to get out alive. If you can get past the poor quality of this film (looks as though its a direct VHS transfer to DVD; no remastering or cleaning up whatsoever), it starts off promising, but then gets dreadfully dull and repetitive the rest of the way. The bad VHS transfer really took me out of the film. At least the year this was made matches the look. Overall, a dull, bad film. The only character I found myself rooting for was an adorable cat. That's it. Lame film. It's no wonder writer/director/star Charles McCrann never did another movie, though I am sorry to say he was one of many victims of 9/11 (he worked at the World Trade Center).
User ReviewCameron MI remember seeking this movie out for years, and when I finally did see it, I got a little less than what I expected (despite reading countless negative reviews). Still, an interesting curiosity that ranks slightly lower than oddities such as "Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things" and "The Hanging Woman".
User ReviewJussi MSanalla sanoen, KAMALA!!! Tämäkin muka video nasty. Tämän esittäminen olisi yksinkertaisesti pitänyt kieltää pelkän huonouden takia.
User ReviewBrian CPretty substandard, but a fun if not cheesy story. Like Reefer Madness mixed with zombies
User ReviewDC FThe basic story of this film, and yes, it's pretty basic, is that the evil government decides to ruin a fun time for some hippies by spraying their hidden pot crop with an experimental crop poison. Yes, this idea has been done before and better. Anyway, some of the hippies get the dust on them and turn into zombies. To their credit, they take a cue from Burial Ground--Nights of Terror and utilize weapons and even torches! That's pretty much the plot, with some dummies running around trying to avoid being killed and partially eaten. The acting is non-existent, but I was somehow able to get over that. I was disappointed by the level of gore(aren't I always?). The musical score was, by and large, totally inappropriate for the action, although occasionally it was creepy. Often times, it sounded like a comedy score. Also, the director was killed in the 9/11 attacks, if you didn't know. That might actually give the movie more fame than being on the Nasties list. This film is not nasty, it's silly. But, that doesn't mean you won't be entertained.
User ReviewDavid POkay, seriously, THIS was banned? Am I missing something? Apart from a couple severed limbs, Toxic Zombies (aka Forest of Fear) is unbelievably dull. There's nothing to say. It's boring and a complete waste of time. Amateur city. One thing's for sure, going through the video nasties can be quite the tiresome goal.
User Reviewken jThis movie had great promise...A group of Marijuana growers and their crop gets crop dusted with an untested chemical by the government. They become zombies and start killing everyone they can. Downside is, the picture quality was terrible, the acting was terrible, the zombies were just actors covered in flour and fake blood and there was no real gore for a zombie movie. Maybe one day someone can take this movie's idea and make it into a good movie.
User ReviewJohn TReally bad. Low quality and just bad. The zombies didn't really have any makeup on.
